Would You Buy This Integra?

Negotiated down from 14.5k to 13k. It's a 2005 model type s manufactured in 2004. It's got 115km on the odometer. So just a bit more than 10,000km a year. Engine runs fine. The gearbox is a bit notchy when selecting 2nd and 3rd gear but no crunching (apparently this is quite common with this model).

The majority of the car, except roof was resprayed but the mechanic didn't find any signs of repair or anything indicating it was an accident. Most likely just scratches or dings. Guess I'll never know.

Best part is that it's completely stock. No mods.

Let me know what you think ozbargainers.

I wouldn't buy it. a 2 minute look at car sales shows similar models with less Km's for less money.

plus you can always negotiate the listing price so you could get them cheaper.

2005 Honda Integra Luxury with 100,000kms for $10,500

    or a 2006 with 85,0000 for $13,000 - i.e. less K's and negotiable for lower $

    or a 2006 with 105,888 for $10,828 - i.e. less K's and negotiable for lower $

Yeah I saw those but unfortunately I'm in NSW and the model I'm after is the type s . if you have a look at the type s with similar specs then I think it's worth it but wanted other's opinions. Thanks for doing the search.

The Type S and the Luxury DC5 Integra's run two different engines hence the price difference between the two. OP specifically stated a type S, not luxury.
In reply to OP, I'd be expecting a slightly lower price if the roof has been resprayed with mileage. Just have a look on carsales, personally wouldn't go for that one though.

      • Actually the roof was the only part not sprayed. A lot of the other type s are more than 16k advertised and even have more mileage =/

My bad - read that wrong! I did a quick search for NSW and this one seems reasonable: http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Honda-Integra-200…
Bit more at close to 15k though.
If you do decide to get the resprayed one, do a PPSR check for $4.

        • @reii:

Yeah got a ppsr done. Came back clean so that's good.

        • @idonteven: what does a ppsr tell you? does it mention the seller name is correct to the person selling the car?

        • @godofpizza:

No it doesn't but I've checked the person's registration papers and their Facebook account. Yes I Facebook stalked them.

It only tells you if there's money owing or if it was written off.

  • No i wouldnt buy it, why was it resprayed?

  • I have this car, 2006 model. Good car in terms of running costs, I don't think there's an actual "major service" due to having a timing chain. Most things you could do yourself if you're keen.

I can confirm 3rd gear is a little notchy, every other gear for me is pretty smooth… (putting some fresh gearbox oil helps smooth it all out for a couple years)

If the car is completely stock, check the engine mounts as they are rubbish and shear off pretty early. In my experience, engine mounts were busted by 70000km, replaced with solid engine mounts (approx. $400-500) But my car had coilovers for most of it's life…

Check the foam beams behind the bumpers and if they're damaged or just missing, good indication of front or rear accidents. (unless they replaced it, sometimes they don't)

Otherwise as long as the motor is running well and not making strange noises, it'll last a long time.

I would check out the one reii listed…

Why don't you ask the owner why it was resprayed?

    • I did ask but they aren't the first owner so have no idea. The paint looks good but only time will tell.

    • So you bought it?

Change the gearbox oil if so, gearbox will instantly feel better. I doubt it's been changed as I don't think it's on the service schedule until approx 180000km for some reason… unless the previous owner was some sort of enthusiast.

And the engine mounts like I mentioned previously, that was the only thing I had to replace that broke (currently on 95000km). I would change them to solid engine mounts anyway if they haven't busted yet… It's more a pre-emptive thing than a mod…

Aw man, that's the car I wanted when I was in uni. Enjoy it for me!

I still have my 97 civic. All I can say is you will have an awesonely reliable car, just keep up with servicing and make sure you do the major services on queue.

Make sure you know whether the 100,000 major service is done or not. If no, then drop the price.

I'll definitely do my best to enjoy it for you.

  • how many owners, does it have log books, respray always always mean hiding some sort of paintwork damage…sounds like a budget job since they skimped out on the roof, will have a different shade of color which can be easily seen under the sun…………..at the end of the day it is your decision, personally if it has log books and there is a good story as to why he is selling then all that is left is whether you would want to buy a car that has been resprayed.

  • fairly high kms… i think respray on the roof is OK, that was the first part of my last car where the paint started looking flakey/offcolor
