Chivas Regal 12yr old is the best whisky to combine with between half (less sweet) and full parts Drambuie over ice for the superb Rusty Nail cocktail.
I love a good nail, but even half Drambuie is a bit too sweet for me. I've settled on 3:1 with a lemon rind garnish. mmmm mmmm
is that 1 part Drambuie to 3 parts Whisky or the other way round…

ah thats why i got sooo sh1t faced at the BBQ - they were making them the other way round ie 30ml whisky/90ml Drambuie, instead of 30ml whisky/10ml Drambuie…. :) had a great time though…
@heathwithnoteeth: I go 1:1 myself. Can also depend on the whisky you use. I tried some single malts and didn't like it at all but Chivas seems to provide the right balance.
@heathwithnoteeth: Actually that proportions make no difference as Drambuie is 40% compared to most whiskies around 43%. Your problem was you were using 120ml of alcohol per glass versus 40ml. :)
The Jura 10YO is one of my favourites but Nikka From The Barrel was last month's star.
