Need your opinion on COTD

Dear fellow OZB,

Need your opinion on buying a scapan on COTD.

https://m.catchoftheday.com.au/product/scanpan-professional-…
$79.99+P/H

Same thing on scapan.com.au is $329

Used to shop a lot on COTD. My recent last two purchases from COTD were not as satisfied. The discounted Swisse product was so bitter to drink and thrown out after one spoon. The heel of the Julius Marlow shoes came off after one wear.

Then read on forums including here that shoppers are questioning the authenticity of products they bought, including Levi's, Handbags, ASICS….

Check product review.com on COTD, the comments are mixed.

Do you trust buying on COTD - ie should I get this scapan?

I'm a club catch member (pay annual fee for free shipping) and make a lot of COTD purchases, 95% of things I've purchased have been trouble free but I have run into lemons like the JM shoes.

I have only ever bought two cooking items from them though. One was a set of Henckles knives a couple years back which are still in perfect condition. The other was a circulon infinite saucepan with lid, the non stick still works perfectly and feels just like the ones at Myer. The box had a sticker saying something like 'your free circulon gift' so it was obviously a promotional extra to a circulon bundle at one point.

I wouldn't buy as I haven't had great experiences with Scanpan (bought through peters of Kensington so definitely authentic), basically the non-stick wore out on all my pans in under 2 years. I've had no problems with Swiss Diamond, Anolon Advanced and Ciculon Infinite.

Cookware RRP is BS - they are routinely discounted 30-50% at Myer and DJs, or look at Victoria's Basement, Peters of Kensington, Kitchenware Direct or Your Home Depot for what the true market prices of cookware are.

  • I wouldn't buy it. If there is a harris scarfe near you check out the cooking section

My experience with COTD has been pretty good. Their customer support is super.
There were few items with which I had issues they refunded the complete money.
In short I would buy from them without hesitation though you have to do your own research regarding the item you are buying and if COTD is the cheapest.

I have no problem with their customer support. My scapan non stick didnt last very long either. I use steel fry pans or cast iron now. I am turn the heat up and burn my food to my hearts content without worrying about non stick coating.

  • So what is a "Referral Code" ?
