Thought I would try to tap into your collective wisdom. Want to take beloved to somewhere warm outside school holiday period. He is reluctant to fly too far. Any suggestions would be welcomed. Maybe July August. Also has limited mobility, ( slow and 400 m at a time) and declining sight but is still a lovely bloke!
Where to go to escape Melbourne winter, inexpensive and short flight.BKK is too far for partner!

Thanks but have been there lots of times in last 20 years. Cooktown on court circuit days is an amazing experience.
You don't need to go to Bangkok, you already have the ladyboy.
Singapore :)
How about Fiji?
You can get direct flights from Melbourne (around 5 hrs) and transfers direct to a resort.
Groupon or similar usually has good deals.Vanuatu. Such a beautiful country, and not too (6hrs flight).
Such a difference, and peaceful.
Thanks everyone. Will look at going in cooler season.
Some good ideas about going to the pacific islands. It might be longer than he is willing to travel but you can get a direct flight to Hawaii from Melbourne rather cheaply with Jetstar but it is a 10 hour flight.
It's very well set up for less able folks as well which is why I recommended it as getting around and being up to see/do things would be a breeze.
EDIT: Just saw the title again the BKK is too far so maybe not!
Great idea. Sounded soon good until I read length of flight. Maybe I could keep an eye out for cruise option.
Get a new partner?
Oh GOD i did not read the mobility part until i had commented. I thought he was just too soft to fly now it turns out he has real issues. How the freak do i delete comment?
Don't worry, I love him dearly and know he is a great bloke even if he is no longer Fred Astaire. We all make mistakes, it is what makes us human!
Yep Cairns best season now till October, fab weather 20C overnight to 28C during day, see the Rainforests, Great Barrier Reef, tons of restaurants, scenic 1 hour drive to visit Port Douglas, Palm Cove Kuranda by train and Sky Rail. Not next week International Iron man even on.
Doesn't leave many options really.. Why not just stay in Australia and go to Cairns/Port Douglas/Cape Trib
