Unless you really want that fingerprint scanner for $150, get the iPad mini 2. Internals and externals are EXACTLY the same.

We had a helluva time upgrading an 16 GB iPad Air, after just a few months, due to lack of free storage space… Make sure you have an iTunes compatible Mac OS X -or- Windows PC system to do the upgrade, if you have reduced your storage by "too much"…
For business reasons, Optus, etc. seem to price & restrict (by SIM) "type" data only differently than data with calls/messages.
White-Card Optus SIMs are for tablets (data only)
YellowCard optus SIMs are for mobiles (data+fone)
or Torquiose " "(I think a separate modem box lets you use either SIM "type")

Yeah the mini 3 isn't worth spending $149 more for 16gb less storage. Just because one is a year newer, doesn't mean it significantly better, they are pretty much the same hardware apart from fingerprint scanner.
