A Brief Comparison between Kaiser Baas Power Bank 11000mAh and Xiaomi 10400mAh

I think it's been a long time since something that's comparable to Xiaomi in terms of price.

From last deal from DSE, I think we finally have (had? Not sure about the price now) something that's at least in same price range as Xiaomi. Considering that the employee said, you've got it for a great price when I went there to collect it, I assume that it was an alright deal. More so, since the DS store was selling it for $80.

Since Xiaomi is rather popular on Ozbargain whereas Kaiser Baas is not, I found that everyone was asking for information on these. So I decided to give my first impression on these.

Kaiser Baas 11000mAh Xiaomi 10400mAh
Dimensions 138 x 60 x 21mm 90.5 x 77 x 21.6mm
Weight 294g 250g
Input current 2.1A 2.0A
Output current 2.5A (Dual Port) 2.0A
Efficiency (As Advertised) 80% 93%

My first impression is that Xiaomi 10400mAh is better one out of the two. Build quality wise, even though Kaiser Baas have aluminum body and the power button area looks much better than Xiaomi, Xiaomi is better in my opinion. The acrylic or plastic part that holds the battery in (the top and bottom basically) is pertruding out on Kaiser Baas whereas Xiaomi one is not. The top and the bottom bit on Kaiser Baas looks like it's going to crack off if I bash it hard enough, something that I dislike on electronics.

Kaiser Baas is significantly longer in length but shorter in width. I don't know why but instead of having it round edged like Xiaomi, one side of Kaiser Baas is flat and has the power buttons and the power indicator on it. This makes Kaiser Baas slightly awkward to hold onto. That being said, since Kaiser Baas is shorter in terms of width, it's easier to hold than a Xiaomi with one hand, if your hands are small like mine.

Even though the spec says otherwise, both feels very similar in terms of weight. At least that's what it felt like to me when I lifted both of them in hand.

I am not sure the performance and the efficiency, I haven't actually started using it, so I cannot really say which one outperforms one.

Kaiser Baas definitely looks like it's better if you have two devices (supports two outputs), but since I haven't used it yet, I cannot comment on it.

TL;DR:
Xiaomi 10400mAh has better build quality and is lighter. Volume wise, Kaiser Baas is longer in length and shorter in width. Don't know about the performance yet.

EDIT: Tried to charge two products at once, the charger fails to charge for two output… I am going to return it. Though it's possible that I got a faulty product.

Thanks for the comparison! Think I'm going to get the Xiaomi with your review!

Yeah, I'd stick with Xiaomi. I don't know about the performance yet, but Xiaomi feels better in terms of build quality.
Though one of the good things about Kaiser Baas is that you can have it standing on its flat side. Might test the charging ability at some point (when my tablet runs out of battery).

  • Some specs for the newly released Xiaomi 10,000mAh power bank too:

    Dimensions 91 x 60.4 x 27mm
    Weight 207g
    Input Current 2.0A
    Output Current 2.1A
    Efficiency Up to 93%

    Taken from the Gearbest page

    • I've heard about them, from a deal that was posted recently. If it becomes available at cheaper price, might grab it (after my battery packs become less reliable that is).

  • Dude. Who buys a power bank based on looks and feel? I'm baffled that somebody would bother to post a review/comparison of two powerbanks before they've used them…

    • There were two reasons I wrote this before the KB one finished charging to 100%. The deal was on for short period of time. Also I was not expecting that much of a performance difference, based on the spec. Spec wise, at least on paper, it was more or less on par with Xiaomi powerbank. Since it was sold in Australia by an Australian vendor at high price (>$50), I thought I could trust the spec on the paper.

I was going to add more to it after it finished charging and after I've finished doing a rudimentary experiment. The stuff I talked about was about portability which is definitely something people consider when they buy these. Build quality, well, I thought I might add it, because Xiaomi powerbank are famous for build quality and build quality can be an indicator of whether the product is dodgy.

I stopped writing because KB one didn't charge two devices at once, since I saw no reason to buy this over Xiaomi if it cannot charge two things at once.
