No guarantees of course ;)

I should add, $120 it may not be but the cheapest I can find it is about $87/bottle at Crackawines

  • I feel like it may be the Murray Street Vineyards 2006 Sophia Shiraz. The alcohol on the Bethany doesn't match.

  • Reckon it's rounding. Also the Bethany has the 94 points from halliday.

    • They don't usually round it. The MSV also has 94 from Halliday, is $120 from the producer, has the right alcohol.

      • fair enough, sorry about that I tried to find the Halliday rating but couldn't find the damn thing. Deal deletion time!

      • actually hang on, that looks like a screw cap? but vinomofo lists a cork?

        • It seems to come in both, probably the cork was intended for export - see http://huonhooke.com/wine/145460 where someone bought some under cork.

        • @Camw: oh cool, fair enough then! cheers!

  • There's some wild speculating going on for this one. Quite the risk to be posting it as a deal!

  • yeah sorry about that, I honestly had a hot tip from a mate, but it seems he could be wrong! I'd delete the post if I could, mind you I find the speculation intriguing enough!

Whatever it is, I bought it. Rare to get 2006 vintage barossa shiraz for $36 a bottle.

    • I like your style +1 good sir
also you should be able to trust it's been cellared appropriately too

    • What is your opinion of the wine? Live up to expectations?

      • Yep I thought it was great. Perfect drinking now!

        • On the Vinomofo site it says Cellaring: 2020. Do you think I can keep it for another 3-4 years or will the wine deteriorate?

        • @tendollar:

I would drink in the next couple of years - doesn't taste young and is unlikely to get significantly better imo.

It is the Bethany GR11, not the MSV.

    • How do you know?

      • +1

I or my Forum members can work out almost all of the VM mystery deals, often within about 10 minutes. Usually via the quoted reviews/points and other details, sometimes a bit difficult, this one was easy if you have access to right information.

Correct. Massive benefit of being a redbigot subber is that you never have to guess what you're getting.

VM broker also confirmed it is the Bethany GR11.

  • Thanks OP, just ordered a 6 pack.

    • What is your opinion of the wine? Live up to expectations?

      • Have not received it yet. Takes a week longer to Perth plus there was some date specified in the Vinomofo deal for shipping which was some time after purchase date. Should have it his week.
