Hi all,

Was just alerted to this by my workmate, $30 for 8GB/mth for up to 24mths. I've just got it myself… planning on going on a PAYG mobile plan (ALDI $15) with it.

You will need to have your own modem though… which shouldn't be an issue with all those mobile broadband modem deals going around.

Addition
As suggested by tobi3421 and confirmed by Cleverbook, it seems that this plan can be added to the shared data plans.

Happy bargain hunting!

Vodafone double data mobile broadband - $8GB for $30

    typo in heading

    • Lol cheers, didn't see that

  • confused about this part:

planning on going on a PAYG mobile plan (ALDI $15) with it.

how is vodafone connected to aldi who used telstra?

I think they'll use this for data, and use ALDI PAYG for calls/texts.

Precisely, I should have been clearer. You can get this to satisfy your data needs and then get a PAYG mobile plan for calls and sms… as there are many alternatives out there for sms (hangout, whatsapp, line etc.) you really only need a mobile plan for voice calls.

    • Dual SIM phone required of course.

      • I'd recommend just picking up those cheap mobile modems I keep seeing on sale.

  • Yes, as I do. Optus 'connect for less' holding my long time permanent number for calls/texts and I fly between any carrier who's offering the best data for my needs at the time.

  • Will this work for dual-sim phones? 1 SIM with PAYG and another with this mobile data only SIM?

    • Yes

  • Per month.

I believe you can also use this for their "sharer" plans too

Is this confirmed? If so, I will add it to the description

      • +1

Yes, you can check this with any Vodafone store.

Yes, you can add this with your share plan.

Sweet plan, although being aware of a-pain-in-the rear—excess_MBB $10 GB.

Sharpest way to go is imo, + as I do, $40 recharge marked down to 32.00- in Woolworths this week. Go 1, or even a few per.store.visit.<>

IE $2 more get me a consolidated plan [oh unless i need telstra LL\DSDA.mode]
2Gb +<12 hours phone +then just all-I-will eat movies @every WKND ..verified+100gig in Feb on the cap 40 pass.
(thats free to droid tether just can't do this with dongle)

      eh?

      • tldr;
        Recharge cap $32 buys 2GB/+no limit +voice, Versus $30 plan & 8GB
Cap transltes to unfettered streaming/saving $10 per extra gb.

$30 month to month plan for 8GB is very good. Might stick this in my 4g tablet and stop using that work sim they forgot to take off me when i quit my last job!

  • Can someone confirm if the data is 4G or just 3G?

    • +1

      Vodafone
      LTE 4G data
      1800 / 850 MHz bands
      WCDMA 3Gdata/voice
      2100, 900

  • Curious to know what other people's thoughts are regarding which plan to use for call and text?

Currently still tossing up between the ALDI PAYG or the Optus Prepaid Daily plus… I generally don't use the phone to make outbound calls or text, but when I do, I use it quite abit. I mostly use my phone for whatsapp, videos and games which use data (covered by this Voda deal).

  • I signed up for this this afternoon. I am already a Vodafone customer on the $30 plan, but the contract expired a year ago. I called to re-contract with the double data, and the Vodafone consultant offered me a zero dollar modem on a 12 month plan. I went for a 24 month plan, as the double data only goes for the 12 months on that length of the contract (24 months = 24 months double data). I hope this is useful to anyone reading this post.

    • was this the 4g or 3g modem?

  • I am currently on a 10GB for $30 Vodafone plan that I still have since switching from 3 and it has been very reliable.

Virgin mobile broadband does 12GB for $40 for a 12 month contract and a 4G modem is included.

I've never used Virgin mobile broadband before so I cannot say whether they are good or not.

    Does anyone use Virgin?

    • Virgin uses the Optus network. 4g is quite fast when you can get it (CBD is good), 3G is usable but it can be quite slow at times.

    • Thanks, not too sure how to add those but it looks like someone added it in for me.
