  • this seems dodgy. the domain was registered a week ago

    the t&cs say:

"Sweepstakes is not sponsored, endorsed or administered by bitfountain, nor is bitfountain associated with the Sweepstakes in any way."

the privacy link referenced in the t&cs doesn't work http://bitfountaingiveaway.com/privacy/

the home page is just a hello world wp page

  • Interesting. Google Maps shows a building that looks a bit empty at that address. And last time the google car drove past, it was for lease too. They could have leased it, but why get such a big building around other buildings that are also in a defunct part of town, for the purpose of running a competition? Phishing attempt? I'd be a little concerned about the fact that the Bitfountain company doesn't seem to have anything to do with it. As far as I'm aware, bitfountain does some cool stuff, but this looks like it's not actually them. Maybe contact bitfountain.io directly to see what they say first?

  • I only found out about this in an email from the dude at bitfountain so I assume they're aware of it?

    • Hi Shaun :) I'm really glad you replied because I was hoping you wouldn't see my comment as mistrusting you personally (!) as it really isn't that. You look like a dude that was just trying to do the OzBargain community a favour. For me it was more of a "doesn't look quite right" type of thing, but for them to go to so much effort for the sake of phishing for an email address, it didn't seem plausible either. Who knows…anyway, was just trying to help people be safe. I'd certainly be contacting bitfountain from their main site before entering. Hope that is useful to someone :)
