Sell My Car Website

Has anyone had anything to do with http://www.sellmycar.com.au/ ?
I find it hard to believe that all their reviewers (all except 3) have given for or 5 stars, signed up on the day, made the review and that's that. I put in a negative review and now it's not showing, need verification of a purchase. I sent a screenshot of the "offer" they sent and hopefully it will appear. They offered me $6800 for a 2009 Mazda 6, leather seats sports pack etc. I don't know much about cars but for a mazda 6 in great cond. with full service history and only 2 owners one being a private school, 6800 seems low.

FYI - This post is more aimed at how I can get my negative review through on productreview.com.au - posted it with a screenshot and still denied, not sure why…

Without knowing other details, it does seem low. It's why a lot of people prefer to sell privately. More hassle but can get a higher price.

only 2 owners one being a private school

that doesn't really mean anything at all to me

You should check out other car sales websites and find a comparable model year, condition kms etc.

    • Yeah deffs not going to go with them, I just wonder if all their reviews are fake hmmm, no idea how to find out tho

  • These websites make money by offering an easy and quick solution to people trying to sell a car. They low ball the crap out of you hoping you are desperate or don't know better. You could easily get $10k for your car if you sell it privately, at least that's what they will be doing if you did sell it to them.

    • Fully agree.
These kind of website are for people who want to make minimal effort in selling their car - essentially they take the car off your hands and then try to make a profit in selling it to someone else.

Similarly with the mobile phone buying websites like Mazuma or Mobile Monster. Not all phones they buy would end up in 3rd-world countries.

  • +1

This business would be equivalent to those in shopping centres that will "buy your gold" by weight. They will 100% of the time lowball you and essentially prey on people who are in desperate need of funds.

  • TO be fair, I'd spoken with them in the past and they seemed nice enough. It's important to remember that they are effectively purchasing your vehicle from you at a wholesale price, it's natural to expect a service like to wanting to make their icing on top. Selling a used car can have hiccups if you end up with a buyer that is hard to work with, just like any business transaction.

  • That's exactly what a dealer will offer if you took your car to them. One of my friend took his 2012 september Mazda 3 skyactive with 18k kms on odo in 2013 to a dealer to check the price and the dealer quoted $15k whereas it was going for about $24k at that time. He decided to keep it for few more years.
