FROM. Good luck getting these prices. All the consultants rely on commission, adding it onto fares without your knowledge.

    Lowest price guarantee my arse

  • It smells like SCOOT to me. A quick search on Scoot's web site shows mid August, Syd - Sin return, $438. Probably plus a booking fee and/or credit card fees.

    • Can't be Scoot as they don't fly out of Brisbane

$143 for a return bus to Gold Coast perhaps ;)

last time i got a quote for 2 adults, 2 children and 1 infant. The flight centre staff quote me for $2900. I then did the quote online for $2700. Advised the girl. She then change to $2700…lol…Bargain4U is right…why go with the middle man!

  • yes it's nearly impossible having a trip with the prices matching those in their shop windows. I don't know why they think being "tricky" like that would work, if they focused on having decent prices with recent dates more people would trust them, their marketing model in 2015 is just beyond me…

    from their terms and conditions

The following booking fees apply to online bookings only:

Online Domestic/Trans-Tasman flight bookings will incur a booking fee of $19.95 per booking.
Online International flight bookings will incur a booking fee of $39 per person in addition to the applicable credit card surcharge or PayPal fee.

    • I don't know why they think being "tricky" like that would work

Well many people would think that if they are willing to price-match, they probably have the best prices around.

    • But when you go in store, they'll tell you the same booking fee apply as well (& they'll even try to up-sell you to a more expensive booking fee package). That's what happened when I went there to book my CX flights (under the previous deal) last time.

Not impressed that it took them forever to make the booking when I could've done it much quicker online myself. They ended up offering to price beat their own online price by $1 & waive the CC surcharge, which sort of made my trip there worth while.

flight centre and travel agents jobs are dust. I know my mum still uses one, but once people realise they save money and it's easier doing it themselves online the quicker this industry dies.

    it's not needed.

    • We used one for our trip to India recently but it was only because we couldn't be bothered doing it ourselves. The prices were the same (double and triple checked) i.e no cheaper to use the agent

But my wife and I were flying in on day 1
My mother-in-law was flying in on day 14
I was flying out on day 20
She was flying out day 25 with her mum

Her and her mother are Indian citizens (but Overseas Citizens) so they need 1 type of visa
I'm Australian and need another type of visa

      Blah blah blah

So i just used them to do all of my leg work for me haha. We booked all the hotels and tours ourselves because there was much better selection and customisation options. Depends if that is the kind of industry that is likely to survive - i probably could have used Airtasker and got the same work done

why can't they just put the price on the website, without word 'FROM'? why do we have to talk with the consultant first to get the quote? better to buy straight away from the airline website (and cheaper most of the time)

  • for a consumer society, consumer laws don't seem very strong (or enforced ? )

@ozhunter, yes but you price match for the dates you will be flying, not oh look it's cheaper here but it must be feb30 to have the 320AUD* price…
