mad men is on au netflix though?

  • Hi Rep

I'm with internode and get unmetered data when I use netflix currently. Will using your service turn netflix data into metered data for myself?

    • Hi budgetgaming,

Yes, it will meter the data when using Netflix which is not Netflix Australia. To enable unmetered data again, you will need to select "Turn Off" from your uFlix panel. This will default back to Netflix Australia, but the data will be unmetered.

      Thanks.

  • Hi rep, if I set up my playstation for this and want to switch back to Aussie netflix, is it as simple as disabling on the website or will I need to remove the custom uflix DNS settings from the playstation settings? Cheers

    • Hi Rupture,

You can go to your uFlix control panel and select "Turn Off". This will disable our service.

      Thanks.

      • It appears just changing the netflix region to Australia works fine. Any issues with unmetred content doing it this way or should I turn it off when switching between?

        • Hi Rupture,

Yes, please turn it off as opposed to choosing Australia. The Australia selection is mainly for customers overseas.

          Thanks.

  • Hi rep..I configured my bluray player to use your DNS and it worked like charm.. however netflix isn't streaming in HD anymore.. I have sn ADSL connection with around 12 Mbps download speed..Any suggestions?

    • +1

it takes up to 2 minutes to reach HD when browsing other countries' content

      Hi quiteguy,

When streaming from Netflix USA, Canada etc you are downloading from overseas servers. Australian Netflix serves its content locally. It should kick in to higher quality after a few minutes, but you will always have better quality via Australia.

      Thanks.

      • I watched an entire movie but the maximum I could see was 480p SD. I get 720p always on Netflix AU. However I am happy that I still get DTS 5.1..

        • if the best u can ever get is just 720p, your internet is probably not too fast

  • Why am I not able to have an HD signal even thought I selected the HD + ultra HD during the 1 month trial in Netflix US?

    • browsers are limited to 720p only, other devices get 1080p

      Hi kokoboko,

When streaming from Netflix USA, Canada etc you are downloading from overseas servers. Australian Netflix serves its content locally. It should kick in to higher quality after a few minutes, but you will always have better quality via Australia.

      Thanks.

    • I gave it a try, I have HD subscription and as the rep said it kicked in after like 3-4 minutes.

    • Then it kicked out, It was standard definition for 80% of the time,

      • Hi BargainBob999,

This is unfortunately a limitation of your home connection. We do not intercept the stream, so when you a viewing from a foreign Netflix, it is downloading from overseas servers as opposed to Australian ones.

        Thanks.

  • Trying to set this us on welkin router with macbook. No luck, still shows aussie content. Any ideas? Login on uflix shows its fine.

    • Hi j5ive,

Please submit a support ticket for help with this.

      Thanks.

  • does this link to my IP address?
If i go to a friends house with my tablet will i still be able to access the US netflix as long as the DNS is set up on my tablet correctly?

    • Hi dragong87,

Yes, it is linked to your IP. You will be able to use your friends home network. Simply set the DNS servers, log in to uFlix, and you are good to go.

      Thanks.

  • Hi
So is this $15 AUD or USD ??

  • Hi Rep
    will this work with AppleTV?
    thanks

    • Hi xaario,

      Yes, it will work :)

      Thanks.

  • I tried to change DNS settings to the given DNS addresses on my Windows 8 computer. There is an error message saying these DNS addresses are not valid.

  • Very big fan of Vikings but not available in US, found it strange. I am new to this but option to switch region is awesome, Switched it back to Australia and Vikings was back. I am sold, getting the 12 month subscription now.

  • Hi Rep,

Just wondering of you plan to add Japan Netflix when it starts up later this year and what sort of timeline can we expect before it's available on your service?

I'm a current subscriber but access to Japan Netflix is very important to me so have been planning to buy a VPN to cater for this.

    • +1

      Hi WeiKaiLe,

We add regions periodically, so we will add Japan shortly after it is available.

      Thanks.

  • wasn't this 12 bucks for 12 months about 3 months back?
maybe rep can give us a better deal?

    • Hi stalker878,

Yes, there was a deal 3 months ago for $12 for 12 months, but we will not be repeating that deal. The current offer is $15 for 12 months.

      Thanks.

      • What will be the rates after 12 months. Does the subscription renew automatically.

        • Hi Elppa8,

The subscription does not renew automatically. The rates will be very, very slightly increased after 12 months as we will have a lot more infrastructure. However, the main costs will be for the VPN system we are setting up. The smartDNS service (which will be offered as a stand-alone service) will not go up by much. I can't give an exact number, but my guess would be $2.50 - $3.00 AUD per month if paying monthly. Yearly payments will be cheaper.
          Thanks.

    • +2

      Haha wow it's $3 mate…breathe!

  • Will the future VPN system be included as part of this $15 package, or do we need to purchase it as an add-on?

    • Hi webbiegareth,

The future (full) VPN will be additional as it will cater to a different market. The VPN we are building is a high-end VPN, not a budget VPN. It will be an additional cost.

However, for the small VPN (VPN for DNS) it will be included free with the smartDNS service. The purpose of this small VPN will be to allow streaming over 3G/4G and to bypass newer apps DNS hijacking.

      Thanks.

      • I should have actually read through the thread more thoroughly, where you answered it already :)

One question though, how will your full VPN service be different to getflix new VPN offering (which is included in their base package)? Is it basically the same sort of thing, just that yours will be more secure, and a lot faster?

        • Hi webbiegareth,

I don't know what Getflix offers and how their VPN network is set up. I can not go in to a lot of detail about how ours will operate, but I can say it is set up to feel like the VPN is not even there. That is to say lightning fast (fast, fast, fast). Also the way you will be able to interact with the central hub is really cool too.

We are also working on a small bit of hardware which will have crazy awesome features in it. But I really can't go into more detail.

The best way I can explain it is that it will be a high-end VPN service.

          Thanks.

  • Is there any reason to set this up through the router, as opposed to just my playstation which is what we use for netflix? If I set it up through the router, will it impact general internet speed at all, or are the settings themselves only active whilst using netflix/bbc etc?

    • Hi Rupture,

You can set it up at either router-level or device level. You will not see a speed hit as our DNS servers are in Australia.

If you only use the Playstation, then I would suggest setting it up only on the Playstation.

      Thanks.

      • Excellent, cheers mate

        • You're welcome :)

  • Does this support SkyGo in the UK?

    • Hi cwisdom1888,

Sorry, no. This does not support SkyGo.

      Thanks.

  • I believe this is an ongoing promo? I am waiting to get netflix on Sunday…

    • Hi mooreshady,

This will expire on the 28th of May at 12:00am (tomorrow night). After that the promo will no longer be available.

      Thanks.

  • cool thanks!

    • You're welcome! :)

  • Hi again rep.

I have 7-10mbps down (ADSL2+) at my house, so that means I usually get around 900KB/s to 1.2MB/s download which is enough for 1080p streaming. Netflix AU (without uflix enabled) works great after an initial couple of minutes of buffering, I can watch the rest without any buffering.

However after enabling uflix > USA, netflix is EXTREMELY slow, I'm talking 20-50KB/s, which is obviously completely unacceptable.

I have set the correct DNS settings on a device level (Windows PC, 4790k, 16GB RAM, GTX 970, 120gb SSD). This PC has also been hackintoshed and OSX also runs just as slow. Speed tests still run fine, just netflix US streaming is terrible.
I don't want to set the DNS on a router level as that would affect everyone in the home.

    Can you offer any assistance?

    • Hi rdx,

We do not intercept the traffic between the stream source and your connection. That is to say that the source of the stream (Netflix servers) comes directly to your computer/device. This is the maximum available speed to you. When you stream from Australian Netflix, the Netflix source is hosted in Australia, so the speed is fast. When you stream from USA Netflix, the source of the stream is in the USA (you will be downloading from a USA server). This will be slower.

However, different ISP's face different problems. So, during peak time you will notice your connection is slower than that of off-peak. Unfortunately uFlix can't do anything about this, as it is a problem from your ISP back to the stream source.

To prove it, try watching Netflix USA at say, 8:00pm. Then, on a weekend, try watching Netflix at around 2:00am. You will notice that your speed is much faster when watching at 2:00am. This is due to the large amount of users using the internet at peak-time.

So, combining both, you have peak time usage + downloading from overseas.

Having said that, 20kbps sounds absolutely crazy slow.

If you like, please submit a support ticket and we can look into the issue further for you. But chances are (99.999% sure) this is a problem is from your ISP. But none the less, we will try and do what we can.

      Thanks.

      • Thanks for the reply!

I am with Belong in Melbourne. They are a Telstra reseller. We literally cannot get any faster speeds at our place coz there is nothing except ADSL, no cable and certainly no NBN in the foreseeable future.

I actually tried testing this morning but instead of working like it normally does, the browser said it could not connect!
No matter what browser or operating system I used, none of them worked while uflix was active.

I honestly don't know what to do, I didn't change ANYTHING since last night when it was working fine (albeit it extremely slow).
Can I get a refund if we can't get this working?

        • Hi rdx,

This morning we had a tiny bit of downtime on our USA node. This was fixed quickly. Please try again as it will be working.

For further support, please submit a ticket as we will be able to test much better that way.

          Thanks.

        • @uFlix: ah that must have been it! Alright I'll try when I get home.

Again, can I get a refund if we can't get this working?

Also if your servers are flooded, is speed affected?

  • +1

Hi uFlix, I have been a customer for over 2 months now. Everything was great, switching regions was never a problem. Until recently, this morning specifically I can't seem to access the content from Netflix USA anymore. I checked your website to see if the service is down, but everything seems fine according to your website. How can I get it back to work? Thanks.

    • Hi canon1989,

This morning we had a bit of downtime with our USA node. It was quickly fixed. Please try again as it is now working.

      Thanks.

  • Well lazy bones thank you so much more help off u then the rep what happens after 14 days if I don't like it do I put the original router settings back to where they where before the change if so thank you

    • Hi save a penny,

Yes, you can set them back to their original settings.

      Thanks.

  • Works great! I get on and off HD viewing of US Netflix using an ADSL2+ 15mb connection.

  • Hey OP

I was on a 2 week trial with GetFlix - it's been working fine.

I've just signed up for UFLIX, changed the DNS settings in my router, but on your website, it is saying
DNS Settings: FAILED: Click here to set up your DNS.

I set it up the same way I did getflix… any ideas?

    • Hi 31mop,

Please submit a ticket so we can see what may be the problem. We can troubleshoot from there.

      Thanks.

  • Hi uFlix

Any plans to unblock UFC events? What about being able to pretend you're overseas so that you can watch live AFL content over the internet, available outside Australia? Thanks.

    • Hi BigMoth,

We will be adding more channels later this year (late). That will be ready with the launch of our new website. At the moment we offer the unblocking of Netflix, hulu and BBC iPlayer.

      Thanks.

  • Hi, I tried the service and it works very well but changing the DNS settings on a PC overides the router network parental controls I have in place using openDNS. Is there a way I can retain the parental DNS control?

    • Hi hedo68,

Our DNS is setup for unblocking channels and it will interfere with parental measures you have put in place. You may block certain sites from being accessed in your browser directly. But there is not much we can do about it unfortunately.

      Thanks.

  • Just signed up, but I can't get BBC iPlayer to work :(

    • Hi,

Please submit a support ticket so we can look into the issue.

      Thanks.

  • I have the NBN with Dodo. I changed my dns on my dodo modem as it suggested and it says my dns settings is correct and so is my ip address but I still cant access netflix USA or hbogo?

    • Hi,

Please submit a support ticket so we can look into the issue.

We do not unblock HBO Go.

      Thanks.

  • what if our ip address changed do we still have access

    • Hi goinspired,

No, you will lose access. To fix this, you will need to log in to the uFlix website. Doing that will automatically update your IP address and the services will work again.

      Thanks.

  • Hey there. Just wondering what time this deal runs out? Wanting it for someone but need to check with them first.

    • Hi SirNed,

The offer ends tonight at 11:59pm (27/05/2015)

      Thanks.

  • Am I reading this right that theres no 14 day FREE trial

    14 Day Free Trial
    Expires: Jun 10, 2015 at 3:16 PM

    1 Year Access
    Expires: May 27, 2016 at 3:17 PM
    1 Year Access

Just signed up and paypal purchased the 12 months for $15

Today is May 27 2015 and the 1 year access ends May 27 2016 thus no 14 day FREE trial period otherwise the 12 month access with 14 day FREE trial would expire June 10 2016

Just want to make sure thats the case

    • Hi nikon,

Taking the $15 for 12 months offer disables the two weeks free trial. This is as-is.

      Thanks.

      • Hi uFlix
        Not a problem.
        Thanks for the confirmation.

  • +1

If in doubt - just get on board. These guys have been excellent for me. Works well and support is excellent

  • Keen to try this. I use Netflix on my Wii U- will I be able to access other countries from the wii u app or do I have to change it on the computer? I have no idea how any of this works.

    • +1

If I understand correctly, if you change the DNS on the router level, then switch the region on the website, your wii u will then show that regions Netflix rather than ours. If you do it at the computer/device level, then it will only affect that computer/device.

      • Cheers for that. Just realised that if I change at the router level it'll affect Netflix on the TV that the rest of the family watches. Have changed it on my PC and will watch US Netflix on that instead and leave the other devices Aus.

        • No worries. Probably the best idea then. :)

    • Hi enidan,

You will need to change your region from our website.

      Thanks.

      • Thanks :)

        • You're welcome :)

  • Hi Rep,

i just signed up for this… i have NBN and it never plays in HD and Hulu wont work at all… keep getting that i'm trying access through an anonymous proxy tool.. That's on pc and Apple TV

    • Hi rotarax,

hulu is down for the moment. We are deploying a new proxy server due to them identifying our USA exit IP.

As far as Netflix goes -

      Thanks.

  • When I subscribed yesterday afternoon (26/5) I forgot to use the code given. I was then charged $20 in stead of the $15. I have raised a support ticket and mentioned this deal to the UFLIX staff member. I'm thinking, that perhaps they are not aware of the deal.

I mentioned on the support ticket about BBC iplayer and Hulu Plus and I still don't think they' know about the deal.

Is there a way I can fix my error of not using the code on my subscription?

    • Hi Meofcourse,

We put this deal up. We are aware of it. If you raised a ticket, it will be answered shortly.

      Thanks.
