How much have you made from using cashback sites like CashRewards?

I'm rolling in about $4.50 by using it for 3 months or so. I've disabled my adblocker to make sure it goes through (ublock on firefox).

How much have you accumulated or claimed? This can be a total from all cash back sites if you wish.

  • Oh crap - does adblock affect it?

    • I've found disabling it when doing the transaction from start to finish is a good measure to take to ensure it goes through.

      • Bloody hell! So there is a chance it might work with adblock on? How long did you have to wait after a purchase to see if it went through?

Just added mine up, couldn't find a total on the CashRewards rewards page, came to $118.66 but that's after almost a year. Certainly adds up!

    • Thanks, I hope I can get to that level after a year too. Just need to remember to go through the reward page more often. Sometimes the deal is so hot I just go through the normal store without thinking. That is unless some kind commenter has pointed it out beforehand :-)

  • You don't earn money from them technically. But I treat as bonus cashback double up with purchases ' if ' tracked transaction properly

    • I did with booking.com they used to give you $15 cash back sometimes I'd book a hostel room for less than that.

  • Started using Cashrewards last week and I'm on $10.56 after one transaction with an 8% cashback offer.
Makes spending a little less painful haha.

  • Ok, can someone tell me how this works?

It seems like there are so many intermediaries on every transaction that I can't see how the actual seller actually makes money!

I buy something via cashrewards site, thru to the store site, then pay with PayPal, which charges my credit card. Then I get cash and points back, the credit card company makes something, PayPal makes something and cashrewards.com makes something.

That's a lot of slices cut off every transaction!

What does cashrewards provide to the seller in exchange for giving up yet another slice?

I am up to $318.07 after about six months of use however some of that is still pending.
The bulk of that has come from buying a few suits from Moss Bros and a hotel booking.
It makes the buy just a little easier when you know that you will be getting a little something back.
Its just a standard referral rebate - instead of the site paying the referrer the whole standard fee it has for referrals some of that fee gets passed back to the buyer.
Investsmart did/does exactly the same thing with commissions on buying managed funds and other investment products. Refund home loans used to do the same thing with home loans etc etc etc.
Its a smart and easy idea to split your commission with the buyer as its a win-win. The referrer gets more sales and the buyer gets a discount.

It's been four months for me and I have a total of $57.50, I'm really impressed it's better than other rewards systems I was previously using.

Around $300 after 8-9 years with MoneyBackCo —> StartHere —> PricePal. $7 with CashRewards so far and that's mostly eBay.

  • Not enough

  • Got back around $180 after almost a year of use. Definitely better than not getting anything at all.

almost $55 since Sept 2014 - but mostly due to two largish purchases.

  • About $30 this year. Have used it maybe 5 odd times.
