I got burnt on this before by SCA. It is not duct tape, just vinyl, like electrical tape. No cloth.

For one thing, it lacks the heat resistance essential for use on ducts.

    • Agree, found out the hard way that this stuff really doesn't like the heat

I found it the easy way, use it for my grafting. Good price for the garden.

maybe they should rename it 'grafting tape'

Did you notice in the wiki link you posted that it says "standard duct tape fails quickly when used on heating ducts". This is not advertised as heat resistant.

If you want cloth tape you need gaffer tape or maybe expect to pay more than a dollar for it.

that's amazing, and here I was thinking "duct tape" was for errrrr ducts, perhaps they need to regroup and rename there "duct tape"

        • Don't upset the kids with logic. ☺

Their Supercheap overlords told them, so this overrides their own brains.

    • you will shop at supercheap!

    • Yeah definitely want to echo manic's comments…picked up a couple of these for $1 each last time and they are pretty rubbish…barely sticks to surfaces.
Definitely worth spending a couple bucks more and getting decent duct tape from Bunnings.

      Duct Tape can be either.

There is a common confusion - in Australia we have "PVC Duct Tape" and "Cloth Duct Tape". They are used for different things.

Cloth tape is great for flat surfaces, and the cloth mesh keeps it very flat and square. However it cannot stretch, so for applications where you need to tightly mould the tape over something you would use a flexible PVC tape instead.

In many countries what we call "PVC Duct Tape" they call "PVC Sealing Tape". Some people call Cloth Duct Tape "Gaffer Tape".
