  • Hope it is better than the Phillip one.

  • Going by the reviews on the HN page alone, this seems like it's only probably worth $94. From what people say you have to 'baby' it through the job as it gets stuck on rugs, cords, uneven flooring, and instead of detecting furniture and avoiding it, it hits and bumps into everything.

But can it carry an average sized cat?

  • Hope it's good

      @Varunsic
Thanks for the reminder about voucher. I took your advice and pick up 2. I will keep 1 as a back-up. When I started this morning, it is a bit noisy (Power mode) and sweep all the dirts and not so bad. I think I need to learn to use it more efficiently.

      • I missed it. Good on you.

  • The price says $199 I assume you know what it is going to be when it goes on sale tomorrow. How can i see the price on the other items for tomorrow?

EDIT: I just read the post. Sorry :) I wish we could see all final prices for tomorrow now. Specially for indecisive people like myself it is very useful

  • I much preferred the 'Piranha' from Kmart. For those who KNOW their robot cleaners, they'd know that one was arguably the best available out of China

I made a big mistake by not buying it when i saw it at the store that day. Went back next day to see nothing was left for me. My bad.

      • I should of bought more but meh, came with a few spares. The factory who makes them sells direct to end users (spare parts). Slap a different label on it and $800-$850 for it wouldn't of been out of the question. It comes out of one of the absolute top factories in China and is their highest-end model :) I love mine. It's allergic to carpet though (dust bunnies block the intake) but that goes for any robot cleaner.

    • how much are they? is there a deal?? (for the piranha?)

      • They sold out at $90 if my memory serves me correctly. Never to be sold again at Kmart :(

        • damn…might need to buy this one then…

Thinking of buying one to keep my cat entertained

  • HN website seems to be down for maintenance.

    • Its back up.

I went to Fyshwick ACT Harvey Norman this morning to get the VX2 on sale for $94 as advertised here.

When I got there I went to the vacuum area and a store assistant asked me if they could help. I said I wanted to grab the "Vax robotic vacuum that was on sale for $94 please". They grabbed one of these ones and gave it to me. I said that I thought it was meant to be black and they said there were only reds left. I then said I thought it was the VX2 model and they said the $94 model was VX1. I insisted so the guy looked on their computer. "Oh, we have the VX2 out the back, I'll go get one". Sure enough, I got my VX2 Odyssey for $94.

My theory is, they knew people would be coming for the VX2 for cheap and were trying to off load the VX1 models to unsuspecting buyers (there were only 2 VX1s left) before they started selling the VX2s!

    • Is it any good?

      • Unfortunately I can't report for another couple of weeks on it's functionality (in between places atm).
Some reviews are mediocre but for <$100, any new robot vacuum model will be fine for me.

        • No worries. Went to my local hn this arvo and was told sold out in first 2 hours.

        • @varunsic: try online. It'll tell you if any local stores have stock and you can pick it up tomorrow if you choose pickup.

At my HN they had the VX1 but were selling them about half the price of the VX2.

  • Got one, bought it online last night after midnight for pickup at my local store today. Saved me having to rush out in the morning to find one.
I think its ok for the price. Seemed to do a reasonable job and managed to push past cables and go from my hard floors to my rug. It does bump a lot though and is noisy.

I paid for it online and went to pick it up. When I went to the store, I thought I'll check out if it's any good - before I picked it up. There was a bit of a dust on the carpet so I asked the "Vax Specialist" to try it and it didn't pick up anything!! Not even a tiny piece of paper!! It went on for about 20 seconds and got stuck. Even the "vax specialist" said it was crap. She said I would recommend buying something else. Bad experience at HN. I asked for a refund and they asked to email the online team.
