Does anyone know how much travel adaptors are going for at the Adelaide airport? Am I better off getting them (UK and Europe) at Dick Smith or at the airport?
Travel Adaptors - Cheapest Place to Buy?
Comments
As mentioned by Nancycat the airports are always more expensive. Assuming its to plug into Europe/UK plugs to use your electronics there - probably cheaper to get there. However if you got time take one from here, as save you running around there - can get from pharmacies, reject shop (not sure of quality) , officeworks, JBhifi - but the other thing to take is a multi socket plug - then plug that to the adaptor and you have 3-4 plug points to use for your Oz plugs.
Buy 1 multi travel adapter and take a powerboard, rather than buying multiple adapters :)
This. I usually take 2 travel adaptors with a power board. One is for my phone charger by my bed and the other is for the power board that will charge my laptop, iPad, camera etc
I bought one from ebay at $18, very happy :)
umm $18? Unless you bought 2 or some sort of multi adaptor you got ripped off….

I got one of those that can be used worldwide. You can use it on two / three pronged countries. It also comes with two USB input and surge protection.
Unfortunately I can't access ebay at work, or else I can give you the link. I have used it in Taiwan, Japan, Korea and Hong Kong with no problem. Highly Recommend!
Hi Maki, would you be able to provide me with a link? Thanks!
Sure, this is the one I bought, they increased the price though
Depends on where you'll be staying overseas, many hotels have adapters you can borrow.
Also, many devices these days can be charged with a USB cord, you can just plug your phone/ipad…into the USB slot of the hotel room TV, or DVD player…(again, depends on the hotel).
(But of course, charging via another device is not as good/efficient as plug into the power point.)Will this one work for both UK and rest of Europe?
http://www.dicksmith.com.au/travel-accessories/multi-reverse…That one will work to convert UK plugs to work over here in Oz, but not to use your Oz plugs in UK
In Adelaide I'd just go to Bunnings or near Adelaide Airport the new Masters Hardware Store.

It's a shame you ask today because yesterday and the day before, Dick Smith were selling all their Korjo branded adapters for $2.87. Normally these are at least $10 around town or at the airports.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ;(
Dick Smith have been having a few of these sales regularly so there might be a chance those adapters go on sale again. Keep checking over the next few days. When are you leaving on your trip?
Thanks for that mate.
I'm leaving in 7 days
The sale is back on!!!! Thanks again!
Was going to message you to let you know it was on today also but see you got in earlier. Glad to hear you got one before your trip!
eBay? I usually get them from eBay.
It's usually better to get them from Australia and it's usually better to grab several of them just in case one breaks. These things are hard to come by, usually it's hard to find Australian to anything unless you are in Australia.
If you were looking well in advance and didn't mind a long wait, and buying outside Australia (average I get is 5 weeks):
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/All-in-One-International-Travel-P…I bought two (UK and Europe) travel adapters from dx.com for less than $5, postage included. Their delivery is a bit slow though, took 18 days to get to Melbourne.
When I was in HK, I bought a set of 3 adaptors for about 3-4 AUD. The sockets are universal, and there are 3 types of pins: US, Europe/UK, and Australia. Probably the same as what number5 above bought from eBay. Much lighter than the all pins in one adaptor and you'd need only one for where you are going. Will take time to arrive though so may be too slow for you.
Airport shopping is targeted at desperate travelers, I can imagine things like adapters, phone chargers… would be more expensive than the normal shops. Try Dick Smith, JB, Officeworks…
