Looking for a decent hotel/apartment in the center of Sydney.
Willing to pay $60 pp, with 5 people all up, but that can be divided 2/3.
Need somewhere clean, secure, decent location.

We've stayed at Capitol Square Hotel a few times (managed by Rydges). If you do a last minute booking (ie within about a week of your stay) you can usually get a room on weekends for $109 (double) and about $20 dearer for a family room.
Close to Chinatown, Darling Harbour, Capitol Theatre (of course) and clean decent rooms. Bathrooms are a bit shoddy, but clean and usable.

Maybe start with the links in the travel wiki… for example realholidays.com.au revealed this company which seems to have decent 2 bedroom appartments for holiday-letting at less than $200 a night:

I'm also aware that Formule1 can have no frills rooms for very competitive rates.
