K1S - 1080p Dual Car Dash Camera - $219.95 USD (Was $249.95 USD) + Shipping @ Spytec

40

I had 3 dash cameras before and all went malfunction due to the summer heat, I have been looking for hidden dash unit for a long time and this one seems quite good.

It wasn't on the market when it first announced, so I emailed the company and they were asking for $350 + shipping from China.

The reason I think this may be a good deal, is because it was $300 USD when I first saw it on Amazon.

How much does it normally cost?

    • the company in China asked for 350USD

but nobody paid it huh ????

  • I had 3 dash cameras before and all went malfunction due to the summer heat

And so will this one, as it has a battery and not a capacitor.

    • The problem I had was the direct heat from windscreen and this recording unit can be hidden somewhere cooler.

I have a Navman MiVue and filmed an epic accident yesterday. So I took out the microSD card to get the recording and now the bloody card won't go back in the slot! The spring mechanism or whatever it is, is fked up. Tried a couple of things like pushing in with something very thin and putting a small piece of paper in. Nothing works.

Quite annoying that I might have to look for a replacement even though the camera itself is working.

    • That's why I want to separate the recording unit and hide it away from sun heat.

      • Do you think that the heat causes problems with sd card slot? I haven't really parked my car in the sun for maybe a year and it's been damn cold in Melb lately.

        • My second camera card slot and plastic cover were destroyed by heat, I thought yours is the same

        • @singtung: nah, as far as I can tell there's no heat damage, just a dodgy internal mechanism

      filmed an epic accident

      Did you upload it anywhere?

      • Cant be as epic as Russian drivers.

      • +1

Haha it was epic for me, but probably boring by youtube standards.

  • Cheapest shipping option is USD$14.63, making this USD$234.58 shipped

you can get a blackvue dash cam for alittle more.
    this is no deal…..

    • Can you post some links so I can compare?

    • Can u post a link on the item, I am looking for a front back hidden cameras and separate recoreding unit. If u have a better brand I go with yours

    • I'd love to see the Blackvue dual cam for "a little more". C'mon, post a link instead of just rubbishing this deal with random comments.

    • I am also interested which 2-cam BlackVue with decent video quality can be bought for less than AU$300.

  • The video you posted is from this site http://www.techmoan.com/blog/2015/3/1/k1s-the-first-front-re…
There's quite a lot of very helpful video reviews of a range of devices.

G1w-c are great and they still work after a hot perth summer.

    • impressive but my first dvr-027 has lasted me 3 hot perth summers ;)

  • What a fantastic find, being looking for something like this for a while, please report back when you get with your comments pls.

  • I am the same, I have been looking for this kind of dash unit for long long time. It is the first time I find may be I am happy with.

I've never understood why people need these? What am I missing out on people??!

    • I've never understood why people need these?

Then you probably shouldn't be buying one.

If you've spent much time driving around Sydney then you might see things differently. I probably don't need one (and definitely wouldn't spend this much) but with the number of idiots on the road around here I'm considering forking out $60-80 on a dash cam to save arguments in case something happens.

the ability to film awesome meteorites flying through the sky
and sometimes you see hot chicks walking on the street, you can go back and review video footage and verify they weren't actually that hot

    • My window got smashed and police used my camera video on court. which is another reason I want it hidden now

      • Those are 2 unrelated reasons rights? As in:
        1. You want the camera hidden so no one smashes your window to steal it.
        2. Camera video footage was used in court - a good thing? assuming it was in your favour? Or are you saying you were forced to use the footage against yourself because someone saw you had a camera?

        • +1

yes, I should have explain a bit more, the video footage was used as evident against the offender. After the incident I want my camera to be hidden, so it will be less likely to be stolen.

  • Thanks, I've also been looking for a hidden good camera for a while. I bought the one with GPS http://www.spytecinc.com/k1s-1080p-dual-car-dash-camera-gps.… , USD $239.95 + $14.95 postage = $319.40 AUD on 28 degrees. Both models are on back order though.

I had been using an android app that worked well, stopped and started when connecting to my cars bluetooth, but no wide angle lens, no sound if you still wanted to be able to make calls, kills you phone battery, have to remember to take out of pocket. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hovans.aut…

I am going to use this for 24hours recording, just let you know. may be interest u

      • You will have a flat battery.

        • with the device in the link, it should cut off the dash camera power when battery power drops to certain level. It is different to just wire direct to battery.

I found these two with similar set up when I was looking for dash camera, but just not 100% happy.

  • I too am interested in this after having seen the video linked a few months ago.

Both on back order. Hi hum
