Driving Test Experiences at Ingleburn RTA

Hi all

Planning to book my driving test at Ingleburn RTA. Just wondering if anyone can share their experiences recent or old. Anything to look out for in the test route or any tips would be appreciated. I will take a class or two before the test just to get used to the test route.

Update: I passed my test yesterday guys, thanks heaps everyone for their tips n advice.

Thanks everyone.
Nick

  • i took my test there 5 or so years ago and the best tips i could give are
    watch your speed.
the speed limit changes when you reach the sign not when you see it.
i cant remember where the stop sign is , but always watch for that one and give way signs.
theres ALOT of round abouts in ingleburn so know how to manage them , although i believe i was only taken through one, i believe it was a two lane one as well ( not 100% sure as it was a while back)
it was a fairly easy route and there was very light traffic during my test
    watch for school zones

    • Thanks a lot for that. Don't really have the habit of speeding. Trying to book the test around 12 to avoid school zone and fairly confident with the round abouts not multi lane though. I was also told I need to indicate left when exiting a round about which I hardly see drivers doing but they already have their license so doesn't matter :). Thanks again though.

I did my test at Ingleburn a few years ago. All my mates did as well regardless of where they lived cause its so easy there. Mainly just a tone of double lane roundabouts. The route will either be to Minto and back or to Glenfield and back. Probably Minto. They also test you for a shorter length of time compared to other RTAs. Main points: always head check for making turns and look both ways even if its a green. Learn how to reverse parallel park, three point turn and how to stop and return at the kerb and you are sweet. Good Luck!

  • pretty much as the above, except scanning as well.

and dont scan with your eyes, actually move your head so the tester can see you are scanning, especially important when approaching a ped Xing

    • Thanks all, will do.

    you'll fail

    • @tuzii why would I ??

if you need to ask about Driving Test Experiences, you are expecting to fail.
if you wernt asking you would be a confident enough driver and you'd know to some degree that it doesnt matter where you drive all the same laws apply.

        • Thanks for that.

And how is that a good thing for any Learner driver?

There's such a fine line between confidence and cockiness - I'd personally rather have a Learner on the road who realises they have much to learn (real life experience can't be taught from a driving handbook), than have some Learner think they know everything perfectly and don't need to ask anyone for advice.

  • Hi Nick,

Could i suggest you change to the test center at Botany? If you book for a test at 8am on weekday, you will never have to go past 40km/s.

    Just a suggestion :)

You'll be lucky to get past 10

      • Then that's a plus isnt it ?haha

You could get pregnant… My wife was heavily pregnant (36 weeks approx) when she did her test. The tester must have been afraid that he would have to deliver the baby, so she just drove around the block and he passed her.

  • a competent driver should be able to pass a driving test regardless of the test route.

  • Just don't enter an intersection to turn right and go when the lights turn yellow. I failed my first time because despite following the road rules and continuing on my merry way after checking the intersection for red light runners, it was deemed safer to wait near the line.

  • Ingleburn RTA, commonly known as: "The easiest place to get your P's" or "Where all the people* who can't drive go to get their P's." It is estimated the establishment has been fully booked since 2003, when every sub-par driver within 20km started booking their test in there.

*original word substituted in fear of internet police.

    You will be fine.

    • I have a lot of mates that failed test there how can you say the easiest place to get ps

      • They probably can't drive for… very well. Also, this was 5 years ago, perhaps it's changed. Judging by the quality of driving on our roads… I'd say not.

  • Hello everyone im booking my test at Ingleburn Rta just wondering if you can tell me what to expect on the test and if yiu can share me your experiences im a little nervous thank you.

    • I had my test there last week at 2pm. Have to be confident about round abouts, lots of up n down roads so you can easily go over the speed limit of 60. Lots of pedestrians so make sure you respond to hazards. Indicate all the time n do head-checks every time passing an intersection or a street. Lastly don't forget to indicate left while exiting a round about especially a multi lane round about I.e you have indicate left when going straight or after turning right. All the best, do well.

      • Cheers matey that means a lot

      • Did they ask you for parallel parking/reverse/90 degree?

  • Whats a good time to go for the test

    • Anytime from 10-2 I think.

  • What nick said. Hit the nail on the head. I gather you passed your test there then nick and sounds like you took a lot of good advice with you.

Fake it till you make it nezray. Just do your best and listen carefully to what you are asked. If you appear nervous it sets the tone so be confident not cocky. Confidence comes from driving experience you get over time and in different situations and conditions you drive in.

Avoid peak times especially morning and afternoon school times for your test. Do everything you have been taught to do and should, even if it seems small or pointless. Little things matter. Stay below speed limit, never go over it obviously. Watch for change in speed signs and all signs in areas you aren't familiar with. Good luck nezray.

    • I did :)

    • Thanks heaps 👌

  • Good for you Nick. What a relief huh? One of the best things you can do. Guarantees you independence. I got mine, some time ago, the first day i could. :) Nezray, if things don't go right, don't see it as a bad thing but rather as you can't go wrong gaining more experience. Better to be ready than not. Just do your best.

    • Good on you Scorpiogirl. Yea it was actually more of a relief than happiness to be honest.

  • I need a driving instructor do you guys know anyone?

  • Yeah me lol clean license since just before 17 and i am not telling you how long ago that was! :) Sorry not helping. So expensive with driving schools. Might be a good idea to start a new forum topic and get some feedback on other people's experiences with driving schools in your area.

    • Thanks you ill ask people with experience aroune ingleburn
