The Lenovo e450 is $599 minimum and $699 if you go for the Core i5 processor upgrade. Add $55 dollars for a full HD 1080p screen (highly recommended). Radeon graphics can also be added for an extra $88 dollars but it's not worth it.

Also add an extra one Dollar for a OneLink Dock (accessory) — highly recommended.

But if you have the money to spend and don't mind splashing out $1000 dollars, I highly recommend

    The Surface Pro 3
Or Dell Latitude E7240 series (this is less than $900 on the Dell Outlet in AS NEW condition)

    • That i5 would work well for you. As knick said below, you can get a little more discount being a teacher. The i5 e450 comes down to $651

    • All good recommendations.

I was also going to recommend the Latitude 14 7000 Series for $799 at the Dell Outlet store. It would do all you need now, plus handle some gaming with Intel 5500 graphics. Plus it is quite expandable.

  • Because you are a teacher you can get around 15% off most brands and some even more like Lenovo

and dell have education stores .

Mind you when I worked selling computers some years back, the "education" discount was on the RRP price, which in our shops pricing was dearer than an over the counter purchase.

Talk to the school's IT dept, they generally can get computers far cheaper than an individual also they are in the best position to advise you what is suitable (if you are using for work as well as home)

      • Actually a good point about the IT dept.
