Thanks. Updated.
Works out to a good price but sadly for me only good for couples and not families.
This is better for families with $50 cash back - total $331.65 after cashback

Good find
I picked up the 9240 (white) XL yesterday at Harvey Norman for $290, after the $50 cash back.
Do you have a copy of receipt? I went to HN today, the price is 339 after cash back.
Amex $20 credit back https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/189406
almost forgot about this
Amex backend system appears to be down for maintenance.
you say this why?
They had a maintenance window.
amex cashback only work with target online not in sotre correct?
so it's $119.15 delivered, with the amex + cashback. hmmm, will it go any lower? decision decision
Keep deciding while we are eating healthy fries :)
"…….we are eating healthy fries :)"
Fries …. healthy? You must be in advertising or something similar :)
Considering it's just potato it's hardly going to be "unhealthy" by itself is it. in fact for some people the fact that it's mainly long chain carbohydrate that they're intaking is in fact good for their health.
Fries? We eat chips mate.
Anyone seen any deals on the XL?
I'm thinking the best at the moment is $349 at David Jones price matched at Harvey Norman with $50 Amex and then the $50 cashback…
DJ sold out so they probably won't PM
Asked mum if she wanted an air fryer. Nope. Just wants the sweet cash. (including cashback)
Avancer 3.5l $109 http://www.avancer.com.au/1500w-low-fat-air-fryer-3.5.html
Avancer 2.2l $89 http://www.avancer.com.au/1500w-low-fat-air-fryer.html
Current promo add some glasses to the order (cheapest $8.50) for free shipping which is usually capped at $15. Cheap 3 and 5 year extended warranties too if that's a concern.
30 day satisfaction guarantee, if you don't like it return it using the provided shipping label and you will be refunded minus $10 shipping cost. I was looking at the Phillips and was hesitant when I got the Avancer but bought it as a $10 thirty day trial. Ended up keeping it and it's perfect for meat pies, fish fingers or chips and nuggets. Happy I didn't pay the extra for a name brand.
I have an Avancer. Does good chips. Just a bit too noisy to my liking.
Quieter than an Actifry. Have you compared the volume on other air fryers?
No, that's the only one I have
dunno about you..but i'd rather buy from brick & mortar shop in case anything breaks…plus for $10 extra, i would rather take my chance with philips
If that works for you, no problem. I posted more so when I saw how much people were looking at paying for the XL.
Yea fair enough, but I'd definitely try Avancer one if I want a bigger size, just not worth it to pay so much for the Philips XL one..unless hopefully they go on same special like the small one..can only hope
Depends … if the additional cost to you of mailing the item back for replacement is trivial compared to what I save I'd rather go with the odds of the applicance working like most do and save the money.
What's the point of paying extra for a situation that's unlikely to occur in the first place? In the long run you'll be worse off unless you have terrible luck.
Cheapest place for the black XL? I have bank Amex
HN don't have the black on their website
Is it DJ $349 - $40 Amex - $50 cashback?
Edit: it's sold out
For black XL, bought $100 gift card from JB. Got a 20 voucher for Mother's Day promotion. After cashback it's 299. Still in stock from jbhifi in Westfield sydney in the CBD
I bought mine a few days before this price from Target (had to as using gift cards) at $199 unfortunately. So far it appears to be a great little machine. I took a look at the other air fryer that target stocked, but the Philips appeared to be much better quality in the metalwork.
Just buy another at the lower price and refund with the higher price receipt.
I paid with gift cards unfortunately and don't believe you can get cash back on return with them.
? No refund if you pay by gift cards? Is that Target new policy? Just use the new receipt for the cash back problem solved?
Just picked up the black version at BigW with price match. Much better looking, Happy days.
A digital Airfryer? So you can cook your micro chips in this one? :P
The digital version has digital timer and temperature control but everything else is the same. I personally just bought the model on sale in Op's post (from an expo in Singapore) and its true, produces great fries/chips/nuggets/popcorn chicken. Highly recommend the Philips!!
Digital AirFryer…Micro Chips…
Digital…Micro
Okay never mind - it went over
Never tried Air fried food before - does it taste the same ?
Tastes like chicken
air fried chicken
We bought one 2 years ago. Never looked back. Taste is not exactly the same, good enough for us though.
How long does it takes to cook a bowl of fries If I may ask ? just thinking from energy usage perspective ….
About 12~15 minutes, on 180 degrees centigrade.
Our xl takes about 8 mins at the most for a bowl of chips.
These Phillips air friers are like a tiny fan-forced oven. I've tried making my own chips but they never turn out very good. The frozen ones from the supermarket turn out pretty good though.
I think the prep you need to do for these things is different than you would do for oven, pan or deep frying.
Tefal Actifry VS Philips Airfryer. Is this worth it?
Actifry isn't as even and you need to remove the arm as it mashes the food up otherwise.
After thinking about it anyone else see this as a smaller fan forced oven?
I was thinking the same… Can we use this for baking?
I don't think there is a baking dish available for this model though.
Yeah, it is like a little oven. There is a cake tin for the digital control one. I don't know if they are different.
Yes, I've cooked cakes in ours.
Thks for the confirmation… now to hunt for the baking dish.
@pauper:
You don't need to, just measure the inside, any oven proof dish that fits will do.
Bought one in store
always a bit skeptical about airfryer but with this price, I'm wiling to give it a try. Is this the best model among them all? What about the belleni one on target site?
anyone keen to provide team member disocunt card code? ;)
For those wanting to see the Choice review on the air fryer here's the link:https://www.choice.com.au/home-and-living/kitchen/toasters-grills-and-sandwich-presses/articles/philips-viva-collection-airfryer-review
The Choice verdict is this: All up, the Philips Viva Collection Airfryer is far from a necessary kitchen tool, unless you're a fried food junky trying to cut down on cooking oil. And when it comes down to it, your oven can do the same job without jeopardising your health, if you just take it a little easier on the oil. So, while the household deep fryer may have left the building – and good riddance to it! – the Airfryer definitely isn't needed to take its place.
But the killer finding for me was this: 'We calculated running costs based on three hours use per week over 10 years and came up with a hefty $347' Whoa - no thanks.
who cares about those small money over 10 years…stupid review from choice I have to say…
That's like $34.7 a year, or like about $3 a month, or like 75 cents per week, or like 25 cents per use.
If you ask me, that's super reasonable for a thingy that works like a little oven.
This review is prejudiced and seems like a load of bs.
Rubbish review.
Time saved as compared to an oven isn't taken into account either.
Running costs for an oven to cook similar amount of food would be a lot more.
considering fries take about 15 minutes to cook, that works out at about 5c per use.
3 hours per week also means cooking 12 batches of fries a week. That's pretty heavy usage.
No idea why you were negged for sharing a choice review .
Thanks for the heads up .
$347 over 10 years at 3 hours a week? I'd say that's good considering I just cooked Jamaican jerk chicken in 25 mins and fries/hashbrowns in 20 minutes :) total running cost: 17 cents
It's a good appliance
Shit if it's just like an oven - I already cook my chips without adding oil heh. And it's gas so cheaper than elec.
Always wondered about these things, guess I won't get one :|
bingo!
I think it cooks about 25% faster, particularly once you take into account preheating an oven. But yes, it's just a tiny fan forced oven.
I don't get why choice would say that, it only takes minutes to get up to temperature, it cooks quicker than the oven, the food is also crunchier than the oven.
We cook Chips in 8 mins, frozen fish is only 8 minutes too, a cake that was supposed to take 40 mins in the oven only took 22 in the airfryer.
many people who have one don't use their oven anymore, we rarely ever use the oven, I've cooked a 2kg pork roast in our XL fryer as well.
Out of stock :( deal expired
Price match BigW or try goodguys
Here's a cheaper digital family-size alternative (not a big name brand, of course):
http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/rank-arena-digital-family-size…
Read the reviews if you're considering to buy this - apparently works well but need to attach/remove handle to check food, etc.
I managed to get a similar model (HC9220/50) at the Good Guys a week ago for $140 (after cashback)
http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/philips-viva-collection-airfry…
me too, as I like this color more.
argh dam..sold out online….was undecided to buy or not..home from dinner, gone..
If it's available in store, will the amex rebate still work ?
Ive been interested in purchasing one of these. How do they compare to a fan forced oven? I have read reviews that it tastes similar to cooking in the fan forced oven.
Hot Tip. If you have an oven which is fan forced it will do exactly the same thing, if not better…
I have a Kogan Air Fryer and it's really more effort than what it's worth…
Ideal if you are single or couple without an oven
Got the Digital Version at the DJs 20% online sale last Thursday which is hardly ever discounted.
RRP: A$349
less: 20% off DJ sale $70
less: AMEX discount $40
less: Philips cashback $30
less: cashback rewards $19
Net: A$190.
Not including DJs gift card A$25 utilising Qantas code.
Is there any way to get a similar deal currently?
Anyone worked out what you would use the trivet that comes with the air fryer for?
My one didn't come with a trivet? It only came with a seperator
http://www.philips.com.au/c-p/HD9220_40/viva-collection-airf…
Accessories included
Food separator
Only in Australia and Korea
Thanks cyrax83, sorry I should have mentioned my trivet came with the Avancer Air Fryer and I assumed it was a universal accessory.
Picture here: https://d1at8p4km6291i.cloudfront.net/images/detailed/1/AVLF…
Trivet is the stainless steel stand in the lower left-hand corner.
Anyone received the cash back?
Havent received my cash back either
Yeah, not even an acknowledgement that the claim has been received.
ive actually received an email that says theyve received my claim and is processing it a few weeks back. But no cash back as off yet.
@narre: No, never received such an email. Could you please tell me the email address that message was sent from?
@unity1: I've pmed u but i think it was an automated msg from a third party.
@narre: Have now been paid
@unity1: im still waiting payment, but they emailed me a confirmation email that they will cash back me soon.
Thanks WNK. Seems it's also available for free delivery.
