Hair Removal Product

I would like to know if anyone here is using any kind of hair removal product for their cheeks (the area above the shaving line) as there are heaps of hair on my face below my eye and it bothers me to remove them or do something with it. I don't want to trim it as the hair might grow quick after 2-3 days. Currently been plucking it out which hurts as hell. Any recommendations will be highly appreciated.

I've just started having laser hair removal treatments and love it so far. They do offer laser for the face (both men and women..) which could be far more ideal than other types of hair removal products since it means the hair grows back finer and far slower, before totally ceasing regrowth entirely.

Not sure whether I'd recommend hair removal cremes / depilatory creams on the face, especially near the eyes. If you've ever tried those sorts of products before, you'd know how horrible the fumes are. Can't imagine that being pleasant to have on the cheeks.. though I suppose if you keep your eyes closed it might not be so bad. Even so, my own experience with those creams have been fairly disappointing. They've also irritated my skin (on body) as I have sensitive skin - despite choosing creams 'for sensitive skin'.

The efficacy and results of laser, however, does depend on the type of skin and hair you have. Ie. it works best on people who have lighter skin and darker hair. Dark hair in general is ideal. They do have machines specifically for people with darker skin as well. You could go in and ask for an assessment of the area you want treated, and they could do a patch test for you to ensure you have no skin reactions to the laser (I had no issues at all personally).

The clinic I go to offer 'sides of face' laser at $35 per session. You'll need between 5-10 sessions (one per month to start with, then less often as the hair growth is reduced). Apparently that varies. Some people need only a few treatments, others may need more. I've had incredibly noticeable results after one treatment. Such a fan of it now - wish I'd done it ages ago rather than wasting so much money and time on different products (razors, depilatory creams, waxing).

  • I second the lazer treatment for unwanted hair. However, it is a permanent solution and fashions change so you need to be very, very sure that at some point in the future you won't want to have hair there.
