Should I Buy The ASUS Zenfone 2 or The LG G3?

Hello Bargainers,

I am currently contemplating buying the Zenfone 2 or the LG G3.
I have recently lost my Xperia Z and I am looking for a relatively cheap phone and something that will work with Telstra 4G bands.

I have seen seen deals for both phones recently but I am still very indecisive on which phone is the best choice. Your input will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

UPDATE: From the information I received and researching I have decided to go for the LG G3.

I would go for the LG G3, but that's purely because I'm a fan of smaller bezels (smaller phone overall), snapdragon proc over Intel's x86 Atom, plus the battery is removable. That's a major selling point for me. No removable battery == cannot replace an aging or degraded battery. I tend to keep my phone usually for 3 years, though most people will upgrade yearly. I don't have the dosh for yearly upgrades..

The camera is also no doubt better, as it also has optical image stabilisation and a laser assisted autofocus. So if you're a shutter bug, LG G3 is a better choice.

G3. It was one of the top phones of 2014.

the zenfone deals you see recently here are not for the taiwan model, which i think the only model with 4G support in australia.

Im going the with the zenfone 2 ive ordered the ZE550ML 4G Dual Sim , it has better front and back cameras " 5mg 13mb " cl has 8mg and its 5.5 inch the Cl is 5.0 , also its a lot cheaper than the Lg G3.

I've come from the Zenfone 2 ZE551ML. I'd have to say, user experience wise, I'm really enjoying the G3. For some odd reason my Zenfone would lag occasionally to the point where it has become unstable, I might have just gotten a bad one, not sure. I tend to switch phones every 2-3 months (such a bad habit) and saw the recent G3 deals. Have yet to be disappointed with the G3. However the low light camera on the zenfone 2 is dead set one of the best low light cameras I have used in a smartphone.

All the Zenfone 2 support 4g in Australia, the Taiwanese version has band 28 support though. Which means it'll give even better 4g coverage and will be more future proof than phone's that don't have the support.

The choice between which is the best for you will ultimately come down to how much you are willing to spend. If you are happy with getting say the ZE550ML 5.5"/720P/2gb Taiwanese version, then that version offers exceptional value. Most people want at least a 1080P display on a 5"+ phone though. So it starts to look tempting to spend that little bit more and get one of the cheap G3 deals going around.

Something else to consider, the Zenfone 2 is on an earlier build of Lollipop, I believe most recent updates has improved the performance of Lollipop significantly. Early Lollipop versions had ram leakage issue, and may somewhat explain why Jimmsee was seeing bad lag on his Zenfone 2. So there's certainly a little room for better performance in future updates.

  • Here's a comparison in performance between the Zenfone 2 and G4. http://youtu.be/JILOULiajas

I'm surprised that the G4 at around 3 times the price doesn't win in every situation over the zenfone.
