WARNING regarding new WOW website payments

  • WARNING regarding new WOW website payments -

I got charged six separate charges equalling $405 for a $101 failed order. And Woolies system happily just kept all the money. No warnings, refunds etc were provided. I've made 3 calls to recover half of it so far, back to them by phone on Monday for the rest.

After getting two account credits applied on my two different accounts due to the QUILTON TP most excellent bargain hunt cancellation.
I accidently applied both credits to the one account at the checkout.
They were accepted, until I tried to pay by eGift card which failed. So I then tried paying by three credit cards, which all failed.

Everything was charged but no order was processed.

Furthermore, I think they have killed a website that no one disliked. Replacing it with an ackward, unpleasant and laggy system. I will try Coles again.

I have been using Woolworths online to do my weekly grovery shopping for the past 18 months. With the new website they have put up this week I will now be shopping elsewhere. Using the old website I could do my weekly shopping within half an hour, I tried the new one and half an hour in I wasn't even a quarter of the way through before I gave up. Waste of my time, ridiculous design. There was nothing wrong with the old one.

    • Good on ya. I fully agree.
As I have to call them to retrieve $300 still from charges to three credit cards, I'm going to talk with them next week, for what it's worth, to provide access to the old interface.

      • If you have any luck accessing the old interface let me know. I find the new design terrible.

    • "NON-INSANE Woolworthsonline interface" still available :~>

It's quick and easy, and works with images Off, so is very low data use friendly. But is the cut-down version of old interface, for mobile users.
So what else you ask? Well a little trick I noticed a year ago might still work.
If delivery slots are all gone for the time slot you want using the main website, this interface (used to work?) shows different results. So I ordered twice for fullup time slots by switching to the m.woolworthsonline.com.au interface. Nifty trick.

+1 for WOW new website sucking

    • Please see my 2nd reply to "rachela5110" above for 'website sucking' solution.

  • Regarding shopping through the alternative website:
    http://m.woolworthsonline.com.au
I've just completed an order on this site, but had trouble with all browsers, and finally succeeded with SeaMonkey Portable Edition v. 2.19
In case others have trouble, try the SeaMonkey browser.

  • I thought I would write an update.

So far my 3x $100 CC are still pending. Two are still showing as active transaction entries in my accounts.

I was sent an Account credit Code which had Expired already, so they've sent another one (after two further emails), which I fairly will assume won't work either.

I was mailed a Giftcard as refund for the two code credits (from their Quilton TP pricing error) which were wrongly consumed by the failed order, but unbelievably it was for the wrong amount. You guessed it, much less than the value owed (~$15 less).
I have asked for Senior Management to give attention to this mess, and to resolve it.

10 to 20 hours of my time lost on this, which reinforces my theory that giftcards are a very profitable product for the retail industry. Bad idea for us.

    Oh well.
