  • aaaa. what a shame, was hoping L4D2 was going to be on that list, nonetheless still a good line up with Dragon Age.

    • I think they have difference games everyday, check it out tomorrow may be they will have it.

      • its their latest/newest game - do you really think they will have it? doubt it

        • Dragon Age is only a few weeks old too. I'm sure L4D2 will appear in the sale at some point personally even if it's only at about 10% off or so.

  • +1

fingers crossed for Counter Stike to come up for sale, keen to grab that cheap.

    • Yeah I wouldn't mind CS:S on the cheap tbh.

  • +1

Fantastic - Have been waiting for GRID to be on special. Thanks

    • I think is a good game but I prefer racing games on 360.

  • Just a quick question: I've bought lots and lots of games on steam but never a collection before and the Lucasarts Premiere Pack caught my eye. If I buy the pack now and a game gets added to the collection later would I get that game too? Or would I have to rebuy it individually?

    • Any packs you buy on Steam are for the games that are advertised at time of purchase. If any games get added to the pack later, you'll have to buy it separately.

    1. THQ Collectors pack is the BEST deal out there by far - 18 games for 50USD in total, all A++ games!!!
    2. To bigosmallo: you only get the games listed at the time of buying.
    3. Duplicate games: If you have a game already purchased through steam, and then go buy a pack that includes that game, you DO NOT get 2 licenses. You basically loose the extra copy. e.g. I own already through steam Company of Heroes. I then buy THQ Collectors pack that includes that game. Basically I just lost 1 license to company of heroes.

Reason: they package together to sell cheap. They don't want people buying packages and giving away individual or extra games to others. That is how they can make the pack so cheap.

So what I plan to do is to create a new steam account so I can get all the games again, so I actually have 2 copies of it. Only catch is, you goto manage 2 steam accounts :p

    • +3

see, you should be able to gift you're original copy (the one you purchased as a single license) to someone, then use the 'package' copy of the game yourself. If you purchased a game (hard copy), then purchased it in a pack (lucasarts pack for eg), you're not expected to destroy your original….C'mon steam, give us legitimate game purchasers a fighting chance!

      • The "original" copy you've already played?

That's not really fair. Not to mention the circle could be neverending.

Actually steam mentions something about this somewhere as the reason why you can't give games you already own.

I just bought the Titan Quest Pack for $7.50 a few weeks when it was on sale. It's a Diablo clone but a bloody good one! IMO it's better than Diablo cause it borrows the same gameplay mechanics while adding a lot of its own stuff. Not to mention the game looks awesome. I also have the COH games which are just endless hours of fun….and I got frontlines last week. If I didn't have these games I'd definitely get this pack. Your idea of creating another account is tempting though cause it's so damn cheap.

  • anyone played far cry 2? Worth it?

    • +1

For $11, prolly worth it. I did like how I could choose how and when to complete quests. Made my own fun by creating different sets of weapons I'd carry (e.g. Stealth set, with everything silenced [really fun if you attack at night], rampage, with all the really powerful and loud guns, explosions set carrying all the explosive stuff).

Only 2 real gripes I had:

      1. Massive travelling distances (can't really see how they could fix this except adding teleporters. Or maybe they could just let you spawn at the nearest safe house, but then it loses its "realism")

      2. Respawning enemies (a simple patch that states the guardposts will only respawn at dawn and dusk (game time) would have been perfect)

I still finished it however. Ending was a little WTF, very different to the rest of the game.

      • +2

Far Cry 2 is a game I would not miss. Even despite the gripes Shadowsfury mentioned, which I fully agree with, I got a lot of enjoyment out of it. The visuals were great and non linear story is just what I like. Very destructible environment (call me a pyro, but I loved throwing Molotov's into the bushes and watching it spread). Physics were good, no doubt.

You'll get your $11 worth out of the game, don't worry.

      • I thought it was a really cool game. The terrain was varied and fun to explore.
The guard posts do get a bit repetitive but when you get better weapons you can deal with them pretty quickly.

I often used the bus system to shorten traveling distances.

        That's a great price - I recommend the game.

    • far cry 2 = grand theft africa crysis

    • I played a bit but I kept getting motion sickness playing this particular game.

You likely won't get a definite answer but….some people loved Far Cry 2 and others really hated it. Like Doom 3 it has some pretty varied reactions. I'd personally prefer to play Far Cry 1 again but for $10 I guess it's not a total loss if you dislike it. I thought it was the biggest disappointment as far as gaming goes of 2008.

  • Is the Digital Deluxe version of Dragon Age worth the extra $$$? I've heard the new NPC is pretty good?

I'm swamped by games at the moment but would like to support Bioware for still making a good PC-Centric game in this day and age…

    • The PC version is supposedly a much better experience, the game itself is very nice, still only about halfway through and it is very complex with what they've done, the amount of detail into charaters personality and everything else is great. well worth getting. I am not a big fan of the time needed to be spent on RPGs but this one is worth it, not as good as mass effect imo but almost there.

      • Ah… I am aware that the PC version is much better… hence I am wanting to purchase… but just wondering whether the DLC included is worth the extra $$$ for the Digital Deluxe Edition.

        Thanks for replying regardless!

        • You are still eligible for extra DLC with the normal version - I just purchased it through this deal.
Steam will give you two keys - sign up to http://social.bioware.com/login.php
Register the game with the longer key.
Look for a link to redeem promotion codes. Use the shorter key for this.
(Remember to follow any onscreen instructions)

It unlocked: Blood Dragon Armour + The Stone Prisoner

        • With the Digital Deluxe Edition, you only get a few more special items, wallpapers, soundtrack and the DLC "Warden's Keep". It's basically a small 1hr dungeon (at most including dialogues) that delves into past Grey Warden lore and history. It also gives you a small "storage" to use. I personally got the deluxe edition when it was at full price before.

          • @kaheiyeh: Thanks for that… I bought the normal edition and registered online to get the Stone Prisoner… sweet! That's really the only DLC I wanted.

  • you cant gift the games on here if you already have a copy.

Abit unfortunate but just how steam works

  • Apart from Dragon Age (which I know is good) and Far Cry 2 (which I already played, hated it) what other games in this list is worth buying?

    • THQ collectors pack. You cant go wrong there!

    • Batman Arkham Asylum is good.

If you're into Racing games, then Grid is a steal.

Remember to keep checking back. Deals change daily!

      • +1 for both Batman and Grid.

I reckon GRID is the best racing game I've played to date.
        Batman is just fun :)

  • since when was a day 40+ hours? timer is just under 35 and thats after several hours.

    • Yeah When I posted this it said 42 hours.

Maybe only this first lot is for a longer period? The rest will prolly be 24h from the time they specified.

  • I'm after Valve Complete Pack! Can't wait!!!
    arrrghh!

    • I just realised the Valve Complete Pack is no longer listed on Steam. Maybe they're doing some changes before they'll release it on one of the days..I'm sure they will..

      • I think i just saw it today. And it included left for dead 2 too :D

  • PLEASE COUNTER-STRIKE SOURCE FOR SALE

    PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

    • I think the reason they don't often have specials for CS:S is cause it's still selling well at it's $20 price. It always pops in and out of the top 10.

      • Can someone say $2.49 TF2?

        • Yeah but you don't see TF2 in the top 10 sales, unlike CS:S. If anything it's the orange box.

  • Think theres any chance of some sport games like, cricket, madden, FIFA, etc

  • i love Osmos its an awsome game and worse ALL $2 US lol haha i can play it for hours its sooo soothing!

  • Anyone considering Dragon Age may also want to consider the Digital Deluxe Edition which (although doesn't appear on above link) is also 25% off. Down from US$64.99 to US$48.74. Better be quick either way though :)

    http://store.steampowered.com/app/901037/

  • The new games have appeared!

    • Dead Space $15
    • Star Wars: KOTOR $2.49
    • Left 4 Dead 2: $37.49

There are a few more, but not really worth mentioning.

Dead Space is an awesome game. Fans of Resident Evil will probably like this for the horror factor and upgreadable guns and equipment.

  • I've updated this with Friday's deals.

  • I reckon this should be sticked till the sale ends. People have already started posting individual games.

  • I didn't realize I had duplicated this post but I had also posted that you can follow the instructions on steamgifter.com to get the American discounts from steam in Australia.
