These seem to be the best wireless headphones you can get at the moment according to most reviews that I've read.

Only a few Australian stores stock them at the moment and are charging just under $800.

The price is listed at EUR 401.28 but comes to EUR 328.92 after VAT is removed during checkout.

when you buy them you're moneyless

        • a car salesman once told me that after you've bought a car, you don't even think about the money. You are just happy you have a new car.
Not sure if this applies to wireless headphones though?

    • If I knew it was the last pair of headphones I'd ever have to buy then I'd consider it, but wireless means a battery that will degrade in a few years, and I'll bet the build quality isn't lifetime worthy.

Although, look at how much money was spent by how many people on Beats - and they aren't even very good.

The best Wireless home theatre setup imo for 99% of people is:

    • Sennheiser 598s - $199 AUD (sometimes less eg black friday sale)
    • Replacement 1m Sennheiser cable from ebay
    • PS4 / Xbox One, using their wireless controllers headphone outputs. The 598's sound beautiful and are very easy to drive. Both consoles have native plex, netflix, blu rays, spotify and other apps so most use cases are handled.

The PS4 controller is especially great sounding, really impressed with its DAC. Also its lighter and smaller so for pure wireless home theatre this is probably the winner.

    • Yeah, for gaming and home theatre I love using my ps4 controller with my wired headphones, especially for night time use.

These wireless headphones are meant for portable use though. They're foldable unlike the previous gen of momentums and connect to your phone or whatnot via bluetooth.

why….just why. Controler isn't even apt x, you're gonna run the hell down that battery and all the compression. With the controller tethered to your head, you might aswell just connect the original 2m cable straight to the source as that would be less cumbersome.

    • I thought you're supposed to use an Amp to get a more fuller sound on expensive headphones regardless of whether it has high impedance or not

      and also PS4 is expensive

      • yes and no… price of the headphone doesn't dictate whether it needs an amp or not. Impedence, efficiency and damping factor is what you should be looking at.

    • As noted these headphones are designed to be worn out. The give away being they're foldable and running Bluetooth 4. That's not to say they wouldn't serve their purpose at home as well, but on the other hand the 598's wouldn't be particularly good outdoor headphones due to them being open.

That and I'm not sure I'd call your setup 'wireless'. Any wired headphones that don't require an amp could be attached to a console controller…I think that's stretching the definition of a wireless setup. Probably good headphones for use with an Xbox or PS4, but what if you are using other devices?

  • Sort of standard amazon price. We could've saved a few more dollars if we bought before yesterday (interest rate cut).
Anyway, I will stay with my version 1 for now (bought from amazon esp:p), thanks for heads up.

Why does the interest rate cut matter? It's exchange rates that would factor in, and the AUD is about 1c stronger right now than it was yesterday (or most of the past week).

      • oh really?didnt check the actual rate yet. its probably becos there will be no more interest rate cut this year.

        • The dollar has been appreciating recently. It broke 80 US cents today for instance, so it's in fact cheaper now than when this deal was posted. You'd think the dollar would be losing value since the rate drop though.

  • How do you deal with lag when watching, say, a movie over wireless phones on PS4/Xbox one? Is there a way that they can put a small delay on the video feed whilst the audio plays in real time?

  • The question is could bluetooth 4 band width is large enough to transfer loseless information to the wireless headphone.

    • A data rate of 250Mbps, I'd assume yes.

      • The page you linked says 24Mbps?

        • Yeah it does. Still, that's a fair chunk of data so I can't imagine there'd be any issues, even if you weren't maxing out at the full 24Mbps.

        • Doh! It does, I found another page but forgot to change the link. Not sure which one is right but either way plenty of bandwidth for FLAC
