Cities Skylines - When to Buy?

The Ozbargainer in me says to wait until it hits rock bottom at 75% off, but the gamer in me says to get it either now or when the first Steam sale hits (I'm planning on trading in TF2/CSGO keys for it).

Currently, the lowest key price I can find is 8 CSGO keys for standard, 10 CSGO keys for deluxe.

What do you guys think?

I bought it about a week ago for $11 from here and must say, one awesome game!
If you can hold off, Sure wait for a sale but if you are keen, Just get it now! Either way, Youll enjoy it ;)

    • Me too! So easy to lose track of time getting all my city's roads right!

BTW you should get the Traffic Manager Mod - makes everything so much better!

      • haha, Very fun game. I got lost trying to fix the entrance to my city, Always seemed backed up and whatever i did just made it worse.
Didn't know there was mods, Neat. Ill check it out.

        Is there multiplayer in this?

  • If you've got the hours to play it now, just buy it. If you just want to add it to your collection, wait for a sale.
If you wait a year you'll be in the same situation as there'll be something more advanced to tempt you.

  • What are the CSGO keys you trade? Are they the ones that you received in drops to open the cases?

    • Nope. The ones that open cases. You can buy them in the store for $2.49 and the market price is roughly around that price as well.

      • So you buy those keys and trade them on steam market with other users who happen to have Cities Skyline up for trade?
What is the approximate discount that the game will trade for compared to buying it on Steam with cash?

You can buy them on market, but when it comes to trading for games, you make the trade with the individual, as games can't be traded on the market.

By using keys as a trading currency, you can also get it cheaper than the Store price via these methods as generally the price from the cheapest region will be used (for ROW/non-region locked copies, this can vary - for Cities: Skylines, it is the Norwegian store). Additionally, there is also a gap in price between Steam keys (games purchased on third party sites such as GMG or Nuuvem, which you can't tell what game they are until registering it) & Steam gifts (games purchased on the Steam Store, which tell you exactly what game they are prior to registering it).

Because a lot of traders will sell Steam key versions of games, this means that as a buyer, you have to determine which people are trustworthy.

          Cool thanks for the explanation!
