Pretty good deal for cheap basic hosting. I'm not sure if it works with anything else

Have you tried the Aussie providers like VentraIP? Performance is decent in my experience and if you prepay for 12 months and use the 50% off coupon, it's good value too. I have a smallish website with NetVirtue too and they've been OK (although I haven't paid to much attention to that one).
Yeah, 9web is hosted/owned by VentraIP, but I believe 9web oversold/loaded their servers, so everything runs slowly. I'll take a look and compare pricing, but I don't need a local server, so I doubt they can beat HG pricing.
No company can beat Hostgator with "unlimited". Companies in Australia want to be up front with how much disk space and bandwidth you have.
Where can I buy a unlimited hard drive?
If you do sign up for Hostgator, welcome to Endurance International Group!
Well Hostgator is not unlimited… try running anything serious and they will shut you down.
That said for cheap hosting with half decent support its a good starting point and for $72US for 3 years its a good deal.
Yes I know it's not really unlimited…
But as a normal user I see
"Unlimited Disk Space
Unlimited Bandwidth"Yes! I can back up my whole computer !
Do you notice my sarcasm…
So are you an abnormal user then? :)
@Linkiepoo: Yup, read all about that. However, been with them before, not that long ago, and while they definitely weren't perfect, 9web has just been shocking slow.
9web is now owned by VentraIP
thanks
Hmm, here is what the plans get you: http://www.hostgator.com/shared
Their VPSs are more expensive. The 4-core 2-IP VPS deal I got Feb2014 for $20/Year from ChicagoVPS was amazing. This is less amazing. I wonder whether this stacks with the $80 cashrewards cashback though, and how much you have to spend. $44 for 36/months hatchling plan would be pretty amazing if we got a $80 cashback :P.
Thanks! Left Hostgator to join 9web. Leaving them now as performance has always been worse than what I had with HG. Any idea of when/if it expires?
