Unbargain - GoGet New $49 Annual Fee on Existing GoStarter

I expect that some of you will have opened a GoStarter account from one of their promotions with free joining and extra credit like this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/146103

I've received an email about a new $49 annual fee being introduced on those plans, even for existing members. I've asked to be moved to the "holding plan".

"We’re introducing a $49 annual fee on the GoStarter plan. As you’re an existing member, you’ll be getting $49 driving credit to offset your first annual fee.
Your next invoice - which you will receive over the next week - will include the annual fee for this year. (It will be charged annually in May.)
Please note: The $49 driving credit will appear on the following invoice, which you’ll receive in the first week of June.
If you would like to move to our holding plan with no ongoing fees, or if you have any questions, please reply to this email."

    Bait and switch by the sounds of things.

    I just checked and I have not received this email, I joined as part of the promo in the OP.

      I haven't received this email either. Maybe because I have never made a booking.

    Never used GoGet but like the idea of posting unbargains. An updated list of good deals gone bad might be useful.

    This is the plan they will move you to:
    GoGet GoFriends holding plan - $0 per month, hourly rates: $14.50 + 40c km and $99 per day (150km included, +25c km extra)

    A few days ago -
    - I replied to the email, asking to downgrade to the holding plan but got no response.
    - I filled in this form http://www.goget.com.au/contact-us/leaving/ selecting the holding plan but got no response.

    When I checked my account status on-line this evening, I saw that I was still on the GoStarter plan.
    Enough time wasted. I phoned this evening and asked to cancel my account. I was told I would get a confirmation email. I have hope.
