        These kinds of things usually get cheaper over time. I would probably wait till I needed it, if you think that 64GB unit will last you a 3-6 months.

      The little I know about it. Windows 8 needs a specific type of flashdrive, so probably not. Linux probably would easily.

      Yes, you can install Win7/Win8 on the PNY Turbo but you'll regret doing that in all of about 5 minutes. This doesn't come anywhere close in terms of read/write performance to an SSD made in the last 3 years.

      This is okay for bootable ISOs of things like SystemRescueCD/GParted/Rescatux/CloneZilla, certain Linux distros, or diagnostic/recovery tools; but it will not cut it for an OS boot drive.

      I keep a Win7 installation on mine purely for troubleshooting purposes; for instance if a PC's primary boot drive fails to boot into Windows, I can boot from the USB.

          I follow currency reasonably closely. Ilikeit is absolutely correct, so to is garage sale.

          USD is down meaning all majors have moved up. Don't count on the Aussie holding on to these gains, it's now widely believed it's overvalued and will probably settle around 72-76c over the next 12 months.

    Aussie dollar isn't up, US dollar is down, need to compare Aussie dollar to other currencies.
    Apple did well in the US but other not as good so the $US dropped.

      But our trade weighted index has increased from 62.9 in Feb to 65.4 now.

      Even in the last few weeks, it has increased against most other currencies by a few cents
      (SGD 1.034 -> 1.055)
      (JPY 90.82 -> 94.98)
      (EUR 0.703 -> 0.728)
      (NZD 1.008 -> 1.037)
      (CNY 4.713 -> 4.900)

      Actually, because the rise in currency against China is so high probably does suggest that Iron Ore prices may have been a big factor

    Amazing price, actually too big for my present needs. Drive images (clones) is my application and I only need 35gb for those currently. More once Windows 10 is out.

    Tempted but I already spent $50 on frozen foods from woolies last night…

      Medium. It seems from reviews that the cases are a bit weak, plenty fail over time. But they are very fast and cheap.
      I read many people trust this brand and find them a good buy.
      So pay a little or a lot more and get more reliable.
      Read the reviews on Amazon. That's the best advice.

        Disagree - I have about 4 x 32Gb, 2 x 64 and 1 x 128 (and now a 256 on the way).

        I'd say these are the toughest most reliable usb sticks I've used. They are also pretty fast and are excellent value.

      See above. Follow the product link above and read the reviews on Amazon. I personally want reliable over all else. And to know my data can still be read in 10+ years. But at $90 it seems a decent gamble.

        USB sticks are not for long term storage. Esp, budget sticks. After 10+ years, it will be like winning powerball if your data is intact.

          That is incorrect. It depends on how many write cycles and if it's been consistently used in those 10 years. If you wrote to it once then vacuum sealed it from the environment I'd bet it would probably last 100 years.

          Sorry PapaZombiesBoy but I agree with Dos. I was going to say in response I had a couple of 1gb drives with files all still good > 6 years.
          The basic material I guess is similar to cpu switches, which last many decades.
          I restored an 8086 pc a couple of years ago with 1.2 floppy, and was amazed at how fast Dos was.
          I think it was built < 1990.
          Apart from vacuum sealing, moderating temp and light and I think it may last decades reliably. Must google this, as external usb and ssd drives have failed me in the past.

      Yes, the overall view seems most people are happy with pny, but the faulty gear makes more noise if you accept what I mean.
      I think they're a decent item for price with flimsy casing.

      Anyway it seems the 256GB price just went up to $82.99. The 64GB is still $19.99 so I won't mark post as Expired.
