Not worth going with Origin, if you terminate your contract with them later on, they will charge you a meter reading fee which would be a ridiculous amount. It will basically taken away any savings you would have over your contract.

    • They charge the fee even after contract expires?

      • No

        • my contract expired ages ago and when I moved house, I switched to ausgrid as they offered me 15% discount no contract. that's when Origin told me they will charge me 2xmeter reading fee for both electricity and gas to my final bill.

One of the worst customer service in Australian company. Have bad experience with the rep, supervisor, and manager of origin. They seem to not care about their customers

  • Good discount. Plus Origin's rates are lower than other big retailers such as AGL an Energy Australia. At least for my postcode.

    • yep, they sure are

      • as I said before, there is always a catch later on to bite you and the service is appalling from my personal experience and a few business accounts I dealt with as well. Def a NO regardless what discount is provided.

        • when did you have this experience? Origin have really stepped up their game in the last 6 months.

        • @edmobile8: This was only just happened last month and makes me wonder what it was like 6 months ago!

  • This deal actually extends to all contestable states. You can also sign on through a cash back broker like Better Bills for even cheaper ($50 cashback).
