Mobile Phone Charging Cable and Charge Port on Phone Melted

Hald way through today i noticed that my charging port on my LG G2 was slightly burnt and on the back same place as the port was indented from being melted a little.
Then i noticed My charging cable.

The phone has is still working and charging (different cable) i am just wondering if the phone it self could of caused this or the Cable i used last night? first time anything like this has happened to me ever.

Yes i removed the back off my phone as it's the only decent camera i have and i wanted to see how bad it is.

looks like the cable pins could have shorted?
are you using a genuine charger and good quality cable?

    • Original wall plus but cable was not Original it was who a 3 meter cable

  • Email photo to LG and ask them if its still safe to use.

  • I'd be ditching USB Charger, Cable and battery…
Something has gone horribly wrong with cable, charger or battery.. and it's likely that whichever component has failed, the failure will have affected the other formerly "good" components.
While the battery might still be holding charge, how do you know that it hasn't sustained damage and is now a ticking time bomb in your pocket?

    • I changed charger and had it plugged in for a few hours yesterday and watched it/felt it for heat and my phone charged same as normal to 100% and at no time was there any heat at all coming from that area.
My phone is also discharging normally with no quick drainage so far today.
I think it must of been the cable i used.
I most definitely plan on changing phones soon though.

      • The problem with Lithium Cells is that they can show no signs of damage until they explode..
Although the LG G2 battery is "glued in" it's not impossible to replace.
I recently replaced the battery in my LG Optimus G which similarly has a "glued" battery using appropriate screwdrivers to unscrew screws and an old credit card.
The G2 is a great phone, you'll have trouble replacing it with something that has a similar camera, battery, screen size combo..

  • A mate of mine had something similar happen to his note 4. Did that but much worse basically exploded while charging overnight on the bedside table next to him. He took it back the next day and pretty much demanded a new phone as it wasn't safe and he got one. In his case the phone was only a week old so slightly different case

I recommend you backup everything on the phone and get a new one soon.
