I think this deal has been around for a long time (I bought this last year at this price, the price haven't changed since then).
That being said, it's still one of the cheaper option available (cheaper than best price on staticICE, $39.00). There is one eBay seller who's selling cheaper than Amazon AUD $25.49 who doesn't meet the Ozbargain eBay post guideline (Also, I am slightly hesitant on recommending them because I've heard about fake KSC-75s as well).

Anyways, this headphone frequently appears on recommendations when someone asks for a budget headphone out under $100. I personally think there is some hype on this headphone, but at this price, it's hard to find something that sounds as decent as this one. Other than how uncomfortable it is to use it (the clip requires frequent adjustments until you get it to the position you like), I think it at the very least, worth its price.

You can use it to replace the units of PortaPro (they are interchangable). It's slightly uncomfortable without the headphone band, so many people choose to get a headphone band that KSC-75 units can mount onto i.e. PortaPro headphone band etc.

EDIT: Forgot to mention this, but apparently the headphone pad can get damaged very easily (I've never changed mine, but so I've heard), I'd recommend buying spare pads along with it as well (though if you want to get it from Amazon, you'd need to spend over USD $25).

Just in case someone wants to know why I said it frequently appears on budget headphone recommendations.

  • Thanks for posting this, I've been after a new pair.

    • You are aware of their lifetime warranty right? (Just bringing this to your attention as your comment makes it seem like you have an old pair).

  • Whoops!

I cannot get them to send to Australia :S
Can you get past the shipping address bit?

      • Yeah I just remembered that Free Shipping only applies to the US customers. Hence my edit!

  • Great headphones.

I can at least say that it has my gf's seal of approval. (which is, "Imma gonna take it coz it sounds nice"… I almost lost my HD600 like that.)

Ugly as sin, but excellent audio for the price.

  • great headphones for the money

  • Think twice, there are better alternatives. I have had two pairs of KSC-75 for around three years now. The sound is great (the same drivers as in Porta Pro), BUT mechanically they are very poorly designed. The ear clip does not hinges out - I am OK with that, but the ear clip to the headphone shell connection is simply pressed in into two plastic lugs. The lugs take full stress of every movement and after using them for a while I started loosing the headphone shells, they were just falling out (yes, all four of them). I bend the lugs many times, helps for a while (plastic is good quality), but overall this is very annoying. Recently I bought Icon Scan 3 (difficult to find in Aus), while I consider the sound of KSC-75 to be a bit better (specially bass range), overall Icon Scan 3 is much better designed. Subjectively, for me overall best sound/mechanical design/comfort out of many clip on headphones I used: Philips SHS4700/98.

    • All of that gets solved by having a headphone band :) I think headphone band mod makes the bass slightly stronger as well, as the unit gets held more closely to your ears. I've been actually searching for a cheap headphone band to put with the deal, my search was fruitless (I found one that Americans use, but it's not shipped to Australia).

Though, I do agree completely that the design of the clip is very badly done. I think it became better, as in terms of the stress you put on it and how well it stays on your ear, when I adjusted the bits that touches the ear (the metal bits that are covered with silicon). It basically allowed better positioning and less effort in putting it on (this does make the headphone clip slightly loose, but I've never done any serious exercise with it). I had to figet around with the wire until I got it to how I wanted it.

      • Here you are - expensive (and look silly?):
        http://www.sleepsolutions.com.au/sleepphones-headband-sleep-…
or a similar one, cheaper, from UK: http://www.kitsound.co.uk/product/KSSBBK
Never tried them myself, but somehow I feel that I would probably prefer a conventional headphone design.

        • Those would block the air holes, they'd change the sound significantly (and probably for the worse since as far as know, some of the mods that people do to KSC-75 actually tries to increase the air intake by putting more holes, i.e. Kramer mod). When I said headphone band, I meant it like PortaPro headphone band (which fits KSC-75s perfectly, though some might consider it going slightly overboard since the cost of PortaPro is far more expensive than getting a KSC-75). The one that my girlfriend took from me was made because one of my PortaPro headphone units were not functioning well. I actually have bought PortaPro with KSC-75 and changed the unit because I like how KSC-75 sounds with the headphone band.

I've seen some cheap headphone bands that are interchangable with KSC-75 units, like Parts Express headphone on Amazon, which unfortunately doesn't ship to Australia. I've been reading Head-Fi forum and I've seen some other cheap headphones that can be used for the headphone band mod, though I've never seen one that's available in Australia.

    • PHilips SHS4700 is my headphone of choice too. However they aren't perfect. A lot of people complain that they don't conform well enough to the shape of their ear to ever be comfortable. The other issue is sound leakage. I've been asked to turn the volume down on my headphones while on the train a couple of times and I don't have them up deafeningly loud, nor is my hearing particularly bad. However these issues aside for my uses I find them compact, durable (I've only had 2 sets with regular use in about 5 years), and the sound quality is very good. Wish I could find them on special and stock up.

      • I don't think you can get anything that doesn't leak sound with open design. Sound comes in and goes out with those design. If you really dislike being told about the sound leakage, I think you should look for a closed headphone or an earphone.

I actually bought few earphones for that reason… Cannot seem to settle on one earphone since I cannot seem to find the right one at right price :(

        • Ear phones just give me ear infections no matter how sterile I try to keep them. So it would need to be enclosed headphones and those things are bulky. As I said this is my preferred compromise but it would be wrong not to mention the down sides.

        • @syousef: I've heard people getting infections from earphones like that. :( I was just suggesting other designs that have advantages in sound leakages, just in case you were interested in alternatives. :S

    • Just a heads up that Philips SHS4700 are on special today only for less than half price at DSE. Nabbed a couple myself.

  • For that price these are a no brainer especially if you put sound quality and price above what is, in my opinion, minor design issues given both those factors. I have bought 2 sets of these over the past 7 years or so and they have been great to treat like crap i.e. use at the beach, on holidays, or anywhere where i do not need noise cancelling/worry about others hearing my music.

    Great price!

  • I've had these for years and they're fantastic. As Molly used to say, "Do yourself a favour…"

  • +1

Mine have never lasted that long. I don't think I treat them that roughly but maybe I'm deluding myself. I've gone through about four of them (at about twice the price from Headphonic). Anyway, I love the sound. Having said that: zero isolation and not for bass heads.

  • 4 years old and still sound beautiful

I cut the plastic surrounding the mounting lug for the ear wire to allow more movement and better comfort. The wires can be bent for a better fit too.
I've also done the 'Kramer mod' and put on PX200 ear pads

  • I bought these for $10 at Amazon April last year for my staff. I have one myself and loves it. So like and easy to wear for general pc usage.

  • Awesome phones.

  • Out of curiosity, are these any good for running with? I'm looking for a decent pair

    • Not really

      • Thanks for the heads up, I'll keep looking
