iPhone calendar event doesn't always give me a Time Zone option

I will be going overseas next month and have been entering all my plans into the iPhone/iPad calendar. Sometimes it will give me a Time Zone option, and other times NOT. What is going on and what am I doing wrong? I don't want to end up in Europe and all the dates and times are as per my current time zone :/

    Not sure if that is your case but timezone is not available for selection for all day events. Otherwise it should available once you tap on "Start" or "End" field.

    all you need to do is set dates to your local days/time and when you land in a specific time zone, Calendar auto-changes to your local time and day

        what do you want then? to keep the time zone as AUS the whole time?

        If thats what you want, i think its Settings > Calendars > Time Zone Override > On
