  $440 per year? I paid $640 for my custom plate in WA and never have to pay again. Charging a fee that high every single year is just exorbitant. Not to mention you're limited to 7 letters. I'm not sure how 20% off the extra $160 is a bargain on such a horribly overpriced product to start with.

    Used to be one-off, but they then realised it could be a revenue raiser about 15 years ago, and made it annual.

    Only got worse since then.
