Need to spend $250+ on credit card - what to buy?! (luggage?)

Hi all,

I will be flying overseas in May. I have an ANZ credit card and I was told that if I spend $250 or more on my credit card, I will automatically be covered with travel insurance for my holiday.

Only catch is that the $250 I spend must be related to my holiday in some way.

I'm thinking luggage is a good idea since I don't have any decent suitcases.

Can anyone recommend anything?

Or any other ideas for what to buy?

Thanks

The travel insurance may be a bit inferior to a payed one. Just make sure it covers you enough.

  • DSE have them qantas suitcases on sale and has a coupon to use also

its on the site somewhere here

Didn't you already buy the flights/accommodation with the card?

What about donating to an orphanage that you can visit where you are going?

I looked at the ANZ policy terms and "luggage" isn't counted as an eligible purchase.

So, you may need to go back and take to whoever at ANZ told you that and ask for it in writing.

    Eligibility criteria
The criteria which you must meet to obtain
the benefit of cover under this Travel
Master Policy. The eligibility criteria are set
out in these Travel Master Policy terms and
    conditions under the heading ‘’Activating
cover under this Travel Master Policy”.

of your pre-booked transport costs (airfares and/or
cruise) and/or land content (tours, hire cars or other hired
transport and accommodation) prior to the
commencement of your trip. The payment must be
debited to your participating card account prior to your

  • hotel and tours?

  • Myer have 70% off luggage at the moment online only. American Tourister is a great brand so you can get a few of them.

    • I looked at American Tourister - The warranty is really poor compared to all others - most are 10-15 years or even lifetime, the AT one I looked at was 2 years. And it was heavier than others (2.9kg vs 1.9kg)

  • You needed to spend that $250 on the initial ticket purchase, then you'ld be covered for the trip.

Suspect you'd be better off just putting the $250 towards proper travel insurance.

  • Suitcases, travel adapter plugs, an iPad, noise cancelling headphones the list goes on :)
