Mazda 3 SP25 or SP25GT

Hi everyone,

My partner and I are looking to buy a new car in the next couple of months (happy to wait for end of financial year deals if theres savings to be had). We've test driven a few and she likes the SP25 and SP25 GT.

Can anyone shed some light on prices they've managed to score either of these for? We're in Victoria and were given the RRP for the SP25 ($28,743) and the SP25 GT ($33,490), both in manual. I told them we're looking to buy in the next couple of months so obviously nothing more was said on price.

Ideally we'd like to be able to get the GT model for around $30,000, does anyone think this is possible? We don't want to push the budget further than that so if $30,000 is unreasonable, what would be an ideal starting point for the base SP25?

Cheers

Matt

  • Im getting an Astina in 2 days! :P. Though getting the GT for 30k might be asking a bit. I'd defiantly spend the extra few thousand and get the GT.
    These are 2015 models right?

  • Thanks for the reply! I thought it might be asking a bit. I've seen a few people getting the auto GT for around $32k with a few extras thats why I thought the manual might be a bit cheaper.
    Yeah, all 2015 models!

    • Yes, On the Mazda 3 Australia facebook page, Most people are getting them for around the $32k. Defiantly give it a go however.
But if you are after one this 'year', I'd place your order soon.

  • Yeah I'll give it a shot!

I was speaking to one of the salesmen yesterday and he suggested the same thing. I told him we'd be looking to buy in the next couple of months and he said to order now for then.

    • Yes, You'll thank yourself later! Order myen 5 weeks ago from another dealer… (No idea why it takes this long) otherwise I would of had to wait till middle of June. Ouch.

  • +1

I cannot see any reason why you would get anything above the base model SP25 with no options - anything more is a waste and will not be redeemable on resale (options garner very little in the way of extra money when selling it used).

The SP25 has the sat nav screen thing which is the only thing you would really need to option out of the base model anyway. Everything else is a redundant luxury IMO.

    • The difference between SP25 and SP25GT is substantial; and more than justifies the extra $2k price tag.

      • What are the differences?

Pretty sure the GT is more than $2k more than the standard SP25 anyway?

  • We just like the extras you get with the GT above the base SP25. We have no intentions of selling the car - it will be used until it's dead like her current car. Some people like extra gadgets, others don't.

  • For anyone interested, we ended up paying $28,500 for the SP25 GT. Feel like we got a pretty good deal. Although the car won't be here until late July.

  • Hi Cala90,
Just to confirm, that was in the manual you got the SP25 GT in?

    thanks

    • Yeah it was manual mate. Sorry for the late reply!
