Yes, the resolution makes it useless as a monitor. You'd have to sit about a metre back from it. It would be kind of like using 640x480 on a 17" screen.
Sure you can buy higher res screen, but you'd be paying more for it.
This is not for more advanced users, or those with more money, or systems capable of gaming @ 1440P+ resolutions.
For the average user wanting a larger screen, at a very affordable price it should suffice quite well.
This will also work well for users with eye strain/eyesight issues. I know a few people who develop quite nasty headaches, when they attempt to user higher resolution physically smaller devices.
what would be the in store price? can I just walk in? bad experience with C and C
these good for gaming/movies?
From the research I've done since this bargain was posted it's probably one of the better buys you'll get for the money, but there are plenty more capable gaming monitors out there.
Yes, this will do the job but the build quality is not that great, flimsy stand, no vesa mount, no displayport.
For a better monitor, taking into account those defects, if you can stretch your budget to $379 the Dell U2412M has a great stand, great panel, 16:10 and better DPI, 3 year warranty so for all-round gaming/movies it is the better option: http://accessories.ap.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=au&c…
but that is only 24 inch, I want larger like 27 inch.
Ideally 32 inch is better, but still too pricey…
I already got 24 inch, and it is too small for console gaming..
I can't read the text in GTA 5 from 2 meters away
Also don't like 16:10, since I am a movie/tv show watcher…
What do people think about this deal compared to the other Samsung monitor?

With the current MASSIVE25 code you can get that monitor for $224.
Main difference is 24" 1080p compared to 27" 1080p. I'm currently using a 20" 1600x900 monitor so was looking for something a little bigger. Is the 1080p resolution at 27" that bad to view from close distances?
look at apple 27" at jb hifi
yeah i like to know also if 1080p is good for 27"?
Just bought the 24" Series 5 (S24D590L) 2 days ago at 225.67 C&C. So far so good. It suits my desk well since it's not too big as the 27" version. The display is great, not much glare from a matte screen. The 24" is a Series 5 has pretty much same specs as the 27" Series 3 but 2 HDMI ports and a better looking stand. I'm using it with my laptop and PS3.
IMO, 1080p on 24" screens look great but not so good on 27" because of the lower pixel density. And also 27" monitors are too big for me to look at close distance. I have terrible headache looking at big screens.
I suggest you go to their stores and have a look at the monitor yourself to see whether you like it or not.
Ive used a 1080p 27" BENQ for a couple years now with no regrets over the size.
as discussed here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/190660 the 'low' resolution is an issue for some users.
