I bought a pair during the eBay 20% off for $46. For $50 is still a very good price. Around $60 elsewhere.

Yes
It's most stabler than wireless.
I use one from study to TV where my nuc is and works perfectly when I torrent sick bird files no disconnections but speed is kinda sucky though 10-12Mb/s
no disconnections but speed is kinda sucky though 10-12Mb/s
10-12Mb/s is very good I only got 7-8.
I have just tried copy a large movie file over 100Mbps network I can only get around 9-10 MB/s.
Don't forget there are 8 bits to a Byte.
100Mbps = 12.5MBps
So 9 or 10 MBps isn't too far off your maximum.
Guys, MB/s or Mb/s?
1MB/s = 8Mb/s
@kiedis: Mines a 1Gbit unit. Well it's connected at 1Gbit. But yeah 10-12Mb/s is not too bad I suppose, better than wireless.
but if the Router isn't very strong to begin with does this boost the signal alot?
You mean the wifi signal? What I did I use this to connect the network to another living room and put in a wifi access point.
Good idea
They have some with build in wifi if you are interest.
Buy the TL-WPA4220KIT bundle and get an additional wifi extender via redemption before 31/5:
@Sir Casm:
Nice find. But the freebie is wired (PA411) and I get the feeling postage will almost-kill the freebie. Especially while this deal is here. Their details, terms, conditions are almost non-existant.
Any suggestions for a cheap AP solution? It's easier to buy the all-in-one solution but that's double the price…
You mean the wireless duties/aspect of the router?
I can download torrents/usenet at 1.2MB/s via this kit, and phones/tablets still have VERY responsive access via the WiFi.
I need one of these so bad, but if the Router isn't very strong to begin with does this boost the signal alot?
It's not a WiFi Repeater/Extender. These are Ethernet Over Power Adapters. They use the internal electrical wiring in your house to connect PCs or Internet-connected devices to your modem (one goes in a power point next to your modem, using an Ethernet cable to connect to the modem itself, and is paired with other adapters in power points near your PC/TV/Laptop/Media Player, etc); which is way more reliable and usually faster than WiFi.
Bought 2 yesterday .. works like a dream ..
Will grab a few kits, thanks!
Wireless is turd. Even a handful of devices competing for ADSL2+ bandwidth brings it to its knees.
These are a dream, and zero setup. Plug-in, connect LAN cable, WORKING.
Grabbed one from a bargain bin in Ireland, for the inlaws there. To share 40Mbit fibre with the man-shed on the back-fence. ROCK solid & faster speeds than anywhere in the entire house via WiFi. Blown-away. A gadget that ACTUALLY does what it says (although 500mbps is a blatant lie, has a 100mbps connection).
Since installed at my house, 2 friends, and parents house. It's my standard install for all WiFi woes, with friends/family now.
Yep they are a me, esp if you live in a unit block of like 200.
The design was a little wide for my wall socket so I had to get a little twin adapter from Bunnings (about $1.50). Works like a charm.
can you mix and match these .. ie if i have 2 x of one brand .. would this work alongside as a third point ?
Should be OK but you have to set them to the same network name.
Is the sale on right now or 18/04 / 22/04?
Now, they have just removed that special buys page.
Sweet as! Will get it after work then. Thanks, man.
Just got one, thanks OP.
Got one from Aldi today, thanks OP. Just have a problem with it, my download speeds are around 7mbps with it but when using a cheap wifi usb i get around 70mbps. anyone know why?
What speeds are they connecting at? What speed test have you done?
speedtest.net and ozspeedtest.com.
have a new problem now, they won't even pair together when one plug is in my room (the middle light stays off). In every other room it works, even ones further away. Going to return them tomorrow if i cant manage to fix them
?
I think you need to connect these on the same electrical circuit. Your home will be wired up for multiple electrical circuits so the 2 rooms that you want to pair may not be on the same power circuit.
For side by side power points, do these cover the adjacent power plug?
I only got 1 side by side power point, so I need to plug this power line into one of the plugs and a 8 way powerboard into the second plug.
You have to buy those with pass through of course not that cheap.

Yeah the tplink one I want is the WiFi one. I dont think they have that.
Would the powerline attached to a up/down dual adapter still work? Or it looses efficiency?
May be but the best is to plug the powerline adapter in first.
