  • $2000 is a lot to spend on a laptop.

Have you considered going desktop for gaming and buying a more portable, wallet/battery friendly laptop for mobility?

Also keep in mind that integrated GPUs have improved dramatically in the past few years - people are sometimes surprised at the games they can play on "non gaming" laptops.

    • Some people have no luxury of having a set place so it's not possible to get a desktop for those people.
That being said, I completely agree with what you've said. I used to play LoL on Surface Pro 1 (though LoL isn't a demanding game and I gave it a break once in awhile, since it did heat up to a level that I felt uncomfortable with), that thing wasn't even a powerhouse.

I might add this as well. I personally think these powerhouses are more prone to failures as well because they do emit a lot of heat and heat is one of the main reason why a computer component dies on a laptop.

I'd look around for reviews, since there are things that don't show up on writing that I think is vital for laptops.
If you are going to be on the move, you'd want a decent mousepad.
Heat dissipation is one of the things that I always try to look for in a laptop, as I got literally/metaphorically burnt by a laptop before.

If you are thinking of using it like a desktop, I think something bigger wouldn't be a bad choice. Bigger ones usually (not always) have more rooms for heat dissipation.

Though this is just my 2c.
