Reid Black Alloy Seatpost Mounted Straight Bar Pannier Rack - $10 + Postage

370

I bought this bad boy last week but I didn't want to share it until I have received it..

Postage for me was only $5 to the Melbourne suburbs, it was sent by direct couriers and I received it 2 days after I placed the order.

You can save 10% by using the code STUDENTLOVE if you are a student. (So total cost is $14 delivered to Melbourne suburbs).

I went in-store to try and buy this and it was $29.95…. So this is a saving of 66%.

Not the greatest quality but it does the job! I cable tied a milk carton to it and now I can carry anything!

      Good luck steering that.

        Handles like it's on rails.

  • Bought, seems to be cheapest on ebay once you include shipping, even cheaper than their own listing (which cost an extra $2 in shipping than quoted on the site).

Does it include "free loss of dignity" after being seen with one of these attached to your bike.

If you saw my bike you would understand that isn't possible

  • Will it fit on any bike?

    • +1

Most likely as it attaches to the seat post so should be fairly straight forward to fit

      These are quite handy but

      1) Be careful when attaching these, my mate clamped it to his downtube and crushed the tube (old style steel frame). Attaching to the seat post would have been a better option.
      2) limited load capacity

Reid also seems to be annoyingly out of stock from time to time. Waited for 6 weeks to get a side stand so that I could use a voucher. Staff were friendly enough but it never came after repeated assurances that "the supplier will have them next week". And the same item was available on their web site. In the end I purchased from somewhere else.

  • Reid seem to have a lot of deals and freebies at the moment. I think it might be they are out of stock of a lot of their bikes e.g. xenon only size is small and they have idea when new stock will arrive. I think they are doing these freebies and bargain to remain one people's radar, great value bikes………. when they have stock

  • Ordered one for pick up. $10 what a bargain!

One tip maybe to put a layer of inner tube between the seat post and rack attachment to stop your panniers/rack moving from side to side.
A common complaint due to a lack of friction on the painted or polished surfaces of seat post and rack.
Hope this is helpful to someone.

    • i forgot to mention, it comes with 4 pieces of rubber to do exactly this.

I think OP meant cable-tying milk crate?

    • Definitely meant milk crate hahaha

  • Thanks OP. Been looking at getting a cheapie for a while

  • Great price!

Don't forget cash rewards to save a further 4% !

  • It looks like it only attaches to the seat post with no other support. Is that right? Surely couldn't take too much weight if that's the case.
It looks like it's got a track on it. Can it take one of those slide-on baskets?
