Xiaomi Piston 2.1 Brown $19.21 AUD w/Free Shipping @ iBuygou

130

ibuygou has the V2.1 Xiaomi Pistons at $19.21AUD with free shipping (air-mail).

One of the lowest prices for these, although it might be justified by the recent release of the V3 ones.

Great earphones for this price and quality.Better than my original Samsung ones from the Note 4 and S6 and even the HTC M9

ibuygou is pretty reputable in terms of selling genuine Xiaomi products although their shipping times aren't great. (My order of the version 3s took about a week before they were shipped).

Overall, the website says 20-30 days.

Just realised the Udemy course deal has a picture of someone carrying the VW in a similar fashion to this person lol

    • So it does! But I think it's the WordPress logo.

    • They used the same stock image.

    great deal, good price.

the ones that come with mobile phones are so stock that you can't even compare to these beasts.

  • It cost me, $20.26 AUD
PayPal Conversion Rate as of 11 Apr 2015: 1 Australian Dollar = 0.740123 US Dollars

You can select AUD at the top of the page. I believe they actually charge you in AUD if you change the currency.

      • You're right :(

        • Yea, I made the same mistake with the V3s (after successfully buying in AUD with a previous purchase). 28degrees has better conversion rates than PayPal, but it's still worse than the site rate was :(

Version 3 are available at USD$ 22.39 (free ship) at Geekbuying

    • These come down to AUD$28.91 with Coupon: CQZBAZJH

    • Anyone know if the third generation mic works with the OnePlus One.

      • I can confirm the 2nd gen works with Oneplus one. So i would presume the 3rd does too. Not making any promises though.

  • I have these and they are great, I have ordered the 3's. Does anyone know how they compare.

more mids, less bass. both versions are good. if u like pop, electronic and rock music, old version is better.

      • thanks.

these are great and easily worth $20 if not more!! Although v3 is now out so maybe wait for those to come down below AU$25

  • I've owned the Xiaomi Piston 2.0 and 2.1. They're both great, but I also want a pair of earbuds that are sturdier, provide better sound isolation and, if possible, a right angled jack. Does anyone have any recommendations? Looking to spend around $30-$50.

I bought two pairs of these from the last deal that popped up here on ozbargain (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/186788)

BUT i feel compelled to report that they sound TERRIBLE. I believe that they are not fake, but i have about ten sets of headphones (seinheiser, apple, velodyne, bose, denon, HiFiman etc, etc) and these are truly the worst. Even taking into account that they are $20 a pair. They just turn the entire top end into an unpleasant mush. I have no idea how anyone can compare these back to back with ANY decent headphones and say they are OK. Their bottom end is acceptable (not great like my velodynes for $100) and they are decently flat through the mids, but any treble just disappears in a mess of noise.

Their packaging and build quality seems fine. They just sound very, very bad.

    • Is that v2.1 or v3? I read the v2.1 were better

    • headphone ≠ earphone

If you're referring to the 2.1s. For $20 they're probably the best bang for your buck, so I'm not quite sure what you were expecting. You say "even taking into account they are $20", but you obviously don't do that since you then compare them to a $100 pair.

        1. It was the V2.1 model i ordered.

        2. Headphones/earphones………… these are obviously different things, but the words are used largely interchangeably by most people to describe personal music listening devices that deliver the sound directly to your ears. Sorry for not breaking it down for you, i was making the point that i have quite a few options to compare these to. In or on ear these are the worst headphones/earphones i have heard since the free ones jetstar gave me on my last flight.

        3. For $20 they are so bad that i still consider them to be terrible value. What did i expect? I expected from all the glowing reviews that they would be at least listenable, but they sound bad enough to my ear they i just cannot do it to myself. The free with iPod earbuds are significantly better sounding (and thats not saying much). Oh and I just checked and the velodynes are only about $50-60 on ebay.

I would also like to make it clear that i am not a audio snob, i love my Aaron ATS3s floor standers that only cost $800 in my living room just like i love my B&O Beolab9s in my bedroom, but they are VERY different price points and VERY different SQ.

Cheap price does not mean good value if what you are getting sounds terrible.

        • Most people spend less than $500 on a combined dvd/blu-ray player and speakers. Spending $800 on a single floor speaker and significantly more on the B&O sorta suggests that you are.

        • Hmmm, damn, I was all excited about the hype.

Well, I bought V3 few days ago, so I might write few things about it when it arrives.

Though your review does sound slightly weird, considering that I've been hearing good things from all over the place. Even from places like innerfidelity, they wouldn't have the bias of "it must be good because everyone talks about how good it is". Even considering that there always are a hype on these "cheap giant killers", your experience does sound really different from what I've been reading…

Hmmm, I don't know, I just hope to god V3 sounds at least what I've bought it for.

Also, just in case I really want to throw V3 out because it sounds awful, is there any recommendation you have for earphones at ~$100 mark?

        • Can I have a link to those Velodynes on ebay for $50-60, I might consider buying them, the many reviews I've read say different so I'd rather compare for myself.

  • thanks OP. Just ordered one AUD19.21.

  • no bass :( good for handsfree not built for music. I don't understand what the hype is all about, maybe its the looks. There are lots of other headphones in this price range sound lot better, Klipsch from office works was abt $24 if i recall correctly sounds way better.

    • It can mean combination of the 3:
      1. It is just all a hype.
      2. The sound quality is decent but it's not to your taste (i.e. you don't like flat sound signature)
      3. You got a fake one.

I personally don't think 1 is true since I've seen some of the known reviewers talk about it. Obviously I cannot talk too much about it since I never had a Xiaomi piston but I think at least it worth $25, according to reviews I've seen. Though this is assuming from what I've read, i.e. from innerfidelity.

So I think it might be either 2 or 3.
