Recovering Deleted SMS on Android Phone

Hi

Just wondering if anyone has experience with retrieving recently deleted text messages from an android phone. I have googled it and there seems quite a few available programs and apps but am not sure if they are dodgy?

Thanks

What do you think the boyfriend's up to?

How recently is recent? Any methods will rely on trying to hunt down things deleted from your phone but that haven't yet been wiped from the physical memory.

It's very time dependent, usually requires a rooted phone, and requires some level of technical literacy.

Unless it's some super important text with winning lotto numbers it's probably not worth your effort. If you really want to give it a go, trawl the XDA forums for a non-dodgy set of instructions.

  • Hi I really appreciate your help it is important…i think they were deleted in the last week or so….I am not really very tech savvy and was thinking of using one of the programs advertised on Google but am afraid they might be scams.

      Which programs specifically? Links?

In all honesty if the phone has been used for that week under normal usage there's basically no chance the messages will still be retrievable.

If you post links to these apps I'll tell you whether they're most likely legit or not.

  • Thanks again it doesn't sound too promising then…
    I was thinking wondershare.net or coolmuster.com?

  • If this is for legal purposes I think you can contact your carrier and request for a text transcript.

  • If this is for legal purposes I think you can contact your carrier and request for a text transcript.

  • just think how lucky we are now.. youll be able to get your text messages from 2 years ago thanks to the spying requirements of the government.

  • It's not for legal purposes so am assuming the telco won't help?

    • Best to go instore and ask staff if it is possible I guess

  • In case anyone is interested I used wondershare and it worked reasonably well in retrieving many of the messages.. I also discovered that Telstra is planning to let customers access their metadata for a fee.
    Thanks
