Ok I know this won't happen overnight, but would be a good idea in the long run (I think). Being able to have a code in a deal post, or answer in a competition post, that are only accessible once logged in. This would prevent Google scraping it, and for deal posts, prevent over-use or promote people to sign up and stay logged in. In the case of competition posts, preventing/lessening the number people from just stealing answers and not contributing. Links wouldn't be altered, just those 2 pieces of content.
As examples:
1) The Woolworths Coke/Soft Drink deal - if those coupon codes weren't shown unless logged in, Woolworths wouldn't have matched it with this website (unless someone blabbed), and may have allowed the deal to last longer.
2) Current Coopers competition - Only members would be able to see the answers, which seems fair because it's the community sharing the answers.
I'm not talking a whole lock-down to members only, just those 2 things. Would increase the number of members and because they have accounts, they then may feel the need to comment or vote or whatever.
scotty has said previously that he doesnt want exclusive content for ozbargainers, as that's not what the community is about.
I'm not expressing an opinion either way, but i'd say it's unlikely to change
