not bad. good data allowance. if only 4G

    • +2

      Why do you need 4g?
Sort of sad already that my 3g internet is faster than my adsl2+

      • +9

because my 4g is faster than your 3g

        • then the 4g faster than his adsl2+……(*me run away)

      • If you could have another g why wouldn't you want it.

        Also better reception indoors.

    • +1

Why not sign up for Amaysim unlimited instead ?

$44.90 a month, no contract, 4GB data, and uses the Optus 4G+ network.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/187524

Plus using the referral link AND the promo code gives a $10 credit, plus half price first month, so your first month is only ~$12.
$1,045 total for 2 years unlimited plan, but without being locked in.

      • no call conference and no call waiting !!

        • Huh. Doesnt worry me, Ive never used either of those features on a mobile phone before, and when given the choice have always disabled call waiting on mobiles.

I'm don't see the "unlimited" in this deal. Why is it in the title?

  • +5

that's not a unlimited plan, please change the misleading title.

  • voda has $45 unlimited call, 4g as well

    • +3

Buy it's Vodafone. Unlimited should probably be unusable.

      • Im on vodafone i am enjoying full reception and 50-60 downloads and 20 up.

        • +3

          If you stand really still?

        • +1

@PonyTable: When i did that speed test i was in the car driving from parramatta to penrith in sydney. as a passenger lol not driving.

i am currently at penrith with 3-4 bars 4G.

      • soon I will switch to Voda from Telstra, because many places in Sydney Metro, like my home, only half of the time I can get signal for call in/out, optus is better and voda is 4g most of the time with little problem, I and my friend only get 0-1 bar signal on the street, but Telstra's rep denied that fact and suggest my phone's problem. So Telstra is not the same Telstra as before, so as Voda

43,200 minutes equals 720 hours, 720 hours equals 30 days. Looks unlimited to me.

    • 1/2 the months have 31 days

    • Unless it's a 31 day month.

      • +7

30 day expiry, not monthly expiry

    • +2

Do i get a credit for Feb :)

      • Yes 2 days in a normal year but only one in a leap year. Assuming you recharge on the 1st feb. ;)

    • +5

You can also exceed that if you are doing conference call and calling 2 people at the same time.

    • Not if you're a Taxi driver in Melbourne

  • +4

what the hell is Aldi playing at here? Why not just make it unlimited? 43,200 minutes is 720 hours which is 30 straight days, so yes you are getting effectively unlimited calls there (unless you are in a 31 day month!) - and if anyone can send 50,000 sms in a month, they deserve a medal!

still, $45 for an 'unlimited' plan on Telstra wholesale with 4gb data is pretty good value I think.

    • +10

because it's always risky for business to not cap their offers… in case some OzBargainer invents a time machine and finds a loophole to smash time and space and exploit an "unlimited" offer.

      then telstra will be Ozbargained

      • Don't need a time machine, if you fly in a space ship that's flying fast enough to cause time dilation (say, the ISS) and make a very long phone call you could, in theory, exceed the 43,200 minute monthly cap since the clocks in a space station run slower than they do on earth, even if it happens to be a 30 day month.

But anyway, back to watching Interstellar. Great movie :)

      • +1

There are better things to do if anyone here invents a time machine, than exploiting unlimited prepaid mobile offer.

        • Yeah, first thing would be how to integrate hot tub.

  • -1

    at only 3g speeds…

    • +7

Because you need to download your 5MB file a few seconds faster, or so you can download a bluray movie & kill your quota in one hit?

      • +6

you can never go back after knowing how 4G feels like..

        • 3g/4g - still a horrible experience on the train with all the handshaking the radios do between towers

  • Prefer lyca mobile for $29 unlimited with 2GB data on same network

    • I'm on this. My biggest problem is that I can't send or receive MMS messages. I don't send heaps but it is a bummer and annoying.

      • +1

haha that is annoying. i use MMS heaps. I think any text with an emoji is considered an MMS

        • +1

Oh and with lyca I can't call 1300 or 13 numbers as prt of the 'unlimited' calls so that rules out banks, NRMA, etc

        • +6

@Bellpop: yeh annoying. but you can always use the "overseas number"… you just have to google for it…

        • @edwinlin88:

Would love a Telstra 3G based pre or postpaid with a solid amount of calls (inc13 numbers) and texts (inc mms) and at least 2gb data for $30 max.

          Any ideas?

        • @edwinlin88:

+1 Edwin, this is what I do aswell to keep calls within my cap.

        • +1

          @Bellpop:

You could always check out Telechoice, if the plans are any solid for you is up to your consideration ;).

        • The Unicode emojis should be normal text (though costing more than one character… I think it was 4?). If you're sending an actual image then, yea, that'd be via MMS.

        • @montorola: how did u know my name is Edwin

        • @edwinlin88:

Lol is that a trick question

      • I too, but I found a way of getting around this by sending a private link off of my one drive account. Works a treat

Take a photo it auto saves to OneDrive. Open OneDrive select photo. Select share via link.

Yes it takes a little longer but only seconds

Photo also is backed up which you can access from a windows 8 PC

        • +1

Or any web browser. OneDrive is such a good service.

  • +5

I got kicked off ALDI because I used over 400MB a day 3 times within 12 months. 4GB is great if you're allowed to use it.

    • +1

ALDI have been known to change the fine print, for the worse, and would certainly keep up to date with it if you use ALDI mobile.

  • Been with Aldi mobile over a year. Happy with it, much better reception than other network. 4G is good, but hey… How fast you need it on your mobile? If you are watch movie, play game and download stuff. Yes. You need it. If just everyday email checking, web surfing. 3G speed is more than enough.

    • +5

agree, currently on Boost (Telstra 3G) and I value more data than 4G speeds.

I can stream youtube & music on public transport fine. and reception is the best u can get…

actually ive just realised with my current usage I don't need 4G.

will definitely be more useful in the future when higher def videos are commonplace

    • it doesn't work like that way, 4g is necessarily in many factors. Similar case with how Wifi speed grow.

  • +1
  • Yet no international roaming?

    • That is where this deal stops for me

    • +1

I'd rather drag a 25kg suitcase than an Aussie number (& the huge bill that comes with it).

  • +1

    Per kb billing for data?

    • +6

I believe it's per 25KB, which is a welcome change from the per 1MB they were/are doing currently

  • +2

Lycamobile is a better option. Pay only $39.90 for unlimited calls and text and 4GB data.

  • +1

I think Boost is better, for the reception

    • +1

      How is it different? thx

      • One of my friend uses Boost for couple of months, he says the reception is the better than Optus. Boost now is a sub-company of Telstra, the only one can reach all Telstra 3G network, not like many companies say part of xxx.

    • How does the Boost plan compare with Aldi?

      • Boost offers unlimited calls/sms + 3G+1G bonus for Sunday for $40

        • Boost beats Vodafone and optus in regional areas in terms of data speed. I still can't believe optus and Vodafone haven't brought in 4g where I live while telstra have had it for years. I found places in the middle of nowhere with 4g on telstra.

That is what i get on telstra
          http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/1233262918

Vodafone would be like 2 mb/s

    • Yup I got done over with this

      Aldi = Telstra wholesale
      boost = telstra nextgen

Difference being wholesale don't give u same reception in some remote areas

  • +1

Lyca network is route through europe. Alot slower than Aldi's telstra network

    • Swapped from aldi after being with them for over a year to Lyca last month. To be honest I find lyca faster. Downside as already mentioned no mms.

  • +1

    50,000 SMSs
Can I sell the SMSs for $0.001 each?
I could become an SMS spam provider.

    • Can we do the same here, with our 5 daily neg votes :P
