Exactly what I have been looking for BUT I want something I can use to download torrents while I'm away from home.
I use logmein (https://secure.logmein.com/home.asp) because it's free, easy to set up and very useful.. but there are heaps of other solutions out there like vnc, torrent program webUIs, etc
is there anyway of getting email subscription to these clearance items? cos damn some of them are cheap :D
can ps3 access media file directly to this NAS ?
at the moment I'm using PS3 Media Server to stream from my comp to PS3.

Stream photos and videos through a media extender
like a Playstation 3 or Xbox 360.3Hope this helps. What I like most about it is the access anywhere feature (this may incur a fee though).
Update:
Is there a fee to use the remote access service?
One year of Remote Access service is included with the NMH305, NMH405, and NMH410. Thirty days of Remote Access service is included with the NMH300. When service has expired, you will have the option to extend your remote access service for US$9.99 per year. Fees are subject to change.got 2! just got my confirmation email. lucky I woke up extra early this morning. got these and 1 harmony remote. 1 NAS as a xmas pressy, should of got another couple of remotes.

they refused as this is a clearance item
i ordered 1, no idea if they still have any in stock.
i actually called them up around 1 today (after placing an order around 12:30pm) and asked if they had any stock and the bloke kinda laughed and said they were gone long ago.
i haven't gotten a confirmation email like simhanada did above…but there's always that faintest glimmer of hope… ;)
This is a great price for this unit!
Got 2 yesterday from the car park sale.
Got there late but there was a desk full of this NAS box .. the plastic desk almost fell apart too :)When I left, I think there are no more than 6 left on the table [4.30 pm] . Not sure if HT just stick all the left over on their site now.
I have been told that these unit were very slow and can't play most of the media file and that's why HT wants to get rid of them……
I tried today It is not so slow.
7G 720P mkv can be played smoothly even through wireless.
File copy is a problem.70G file took 3 hours to copy.
Friend of mine bought one from OW and returned it the next day. Nothing wrong with the product, it was just too slow in the real world. I guess it will be a great buy for those who doesn't require performance! Nevertheless, it still costs over $400 in eBay… :)
i have a similar model NAS (though, mine's a bit more expensive, and faster), though still relatively bad.
this model does run linux i believe, but it's usually a 400mhz ARM processor, what you find running a mobile phone, and 128mb ram. also, occasionally, the sata RAID interface is running off a USB2 hub (yep) once you realise this, it's very cheap/good for archival storage, but don't expect PC speeds. expect mobile phone speed.
secondly, you're using twonkymedia, the mediahub service, it's actually decent DLNA software. but don't share more than 2k items to start with, or you'll slow it right down, a limitation of not using a version of twonky with a proper database is that it slows down when indexing. and since linksys is using an OEM verison, you get all the glitches that twonky has ironed out over time. and i mean all of them. MKV (even just the regular x264/ac3, or the xvid/mp3) files being one of them.
other than that, when it works, it's rock solid, and you can use it as an itunes radio box very simply, a photo storage box, and a quick archive space as a network mapped drive in an emergency.
but expect it to take a while, 2mb-6mb/sec will take a while to upload data.
I hate to disappoint many, but I placed an order about 9 AM and called in around 12 to check since I wasnt sure whether they will deliver or not. The guy told me they were all gone so obviously their website could use alot of work considering how they specialize in IT products. Great bargain for those who scored though, just be wary about replacing the 500 GB that came with it since I read a few issues about that.
the link to the product has been removed now too…
My order got canceled.
It looks to me nothing wrong with the Unit.
Looks at these:

All NASes are slow on 100M Ethernet due to bandwidth which most of us have.
Please update with price its 147 from memory
