Tablet with 4G LTE, what choice?

Hay guys, I am looking for a tablet with 4G LTE which I could browse around on a train or show stuff to customers. I want to keep the running cost low, so I won't be joining a monthly plan, instead I will get a 365 day expiry data SIM for this (my mobile is on prepaid atm).

Want to keep the upfront cost between $400 - $500, so an used Nexus 7 LTE is one of the choice. Did I miss any goodies in the market? Want to listen to you guys in what is on offer.

Requirements as follows :-)

7 (preferred) or 8 inch tablet with 3G or LTE
2GB RAM or above
32GB storage (16GB is quite limited as my non-expandable Nexus 7 32GB wifi has only 3.5GB left)

Do you know if any place still sells brand new Nexus 7 LTE (OZ frequency of course)? If there is I would buy!

  • Hmmm, I remember this model from Asus that was available on Asus Shop.
    ASUS MeMO Pad 8 ME581C / Intel Atom Z3560 Quad-Core / 2GB RAM / 16GB EMMC (Has MicroSD card support) / 8" IPS / Android KitKat / White
    $350.00 + Shipping, http://shop.asus.com/store/asusau/en_AU/pd/ThemeID.34023100/…

I am not too sure about what it is like, but it's within your budget and it's fairly decent specced (barring that it's Intel CPU so it might have compatiability issues with some apps). Also, I haven't seen it from anywhere in Australia other than from the official website, I am not sure whether they are officially released in Australia (I'd assume so since it's the official store?). I cannot vouch for the tablet, so I recommend some research.

    • I am looking for a 3G/LTE tablet and that is the reason I am planning to sell my current Nexus 7 and get the one with 3G/LTE. Painful process to set everything up like the old tablet, but well worth it. 99% of the time I won't be using a tablet on a train as it doesn't have connectivity. Wish I could browse on the train like I am at home.

      • This one is a 3G/LTE tablet though :) I think it's fairly decently priced. I was thinking about pulling the trigger on it but went with Tab Pro 10.1 because it was cheaper and I didn't think that highly of 3G function that much (slightly regretting it now but I can tether)

        • Oh sorry! Looked at the title in this page and no where it indicated it was a 3G/LTE model. Guess they should have update the title to make it obvious :-)

Thank you for the input, will keep that in mind before a decision is made…..in about a week I'd say :-)

        • @shalala: Yeah, it's bit confusing on the ASUS store page. I thought the hardware itself didn't look too bad on paper, but personally I would research reviews and stuff.

  • I've just bought the wifi model of the Xperia z2 tablet….Wow… Blown away….worth the money
