  • Nice im interested to see how well it sells despite all the missing features.

    • I heard it's selling big numbers overseas in pre orders

      • From Forbes

There are some caveats in this story though. The first is that the numbers do not come directly from Samsung – instead they come from a ‘ top executive at a leading mobile carrier in Europe.’

The second is that these are pre-orders from carriers and distributors, they are not customers putting down money to reserve a handset. Samsung has relied on ‘units shipped’ rather than ‘units sold’ in the past to keep the message of ‘everyone is buying this handset’ and using this as social pressure to increase sales of the handset. I wouldn’t expect Samsung to change track now, so the 20 million units will likely be the number of handsets that ship around the world ahead of the release date of April 10th.

        • I think they will do well, pretty much every review I have read loves the phone

        • @TRENT86: That may well be. However every Samsung has had rave reviews at intro, so only time will tell. Counter to that is the number who criticise the lack of the SD slot or removable battery, things people always said was better with Samsung.

BTW I wasnt critising the phone, just putting perspective into your report of the claims of sales. Remember the previous unit was supposed to be selling massive amounts, but in the end the sales werent as great as the claims.

        • +1

@RockyRaccoon: Yeah I agree, will be interesting to watch how they do :)

  • Better value from optus or vodafone.

    Optus for $80 (+$5 for 64GB model) you get 6GB + unlimited calls + 6 month netflix

Vodafone is $86 (+$2 for 64GB model) for 6GB + unlimited data for first 2 months + unlimited calls + spotify premium 12 month

I wanted the s6 as my contract is about to end but it's too much for me :( Started with $45 p.m for s2, then stretched to $60 p.m for s4 but can't go any more :/

    • Yeah buy the phone outright cheaper and then go on a byo plan. Gives you the flexibility to change plans and look for the best deals.

Don't get locked into a 2 year plan charging an exuberant amount of money.
