How Broad Is The Term "Negotiable Instruments"?

Hi Ozb,

Recently got back from an overseas trip to Korea where my wallet got nicked. I put in an insurance claim and they paid out most things, except for my TMoney card which had around $100 on it. A TMoney card is the metro card in Seoul, but the insurance company misinterpreted this as a Travelex card on my claim form. They denied this claim on the basis that they don't cover "bank or currency notes, cheques or negotiable instruments", which a pre-paid travel card would be. But, would a transport card be a "negotiable instrument"? Would it be worth correcting them, in the hopes they pay out some more?

Cheers
Cpho

Maybe a thread more suitable to Travel, but mods can exercise their judgement to move this or not :)

  • I think that if you can prove, by one means or another, the specific value outlayed for the card - or maybe more particularly, the remainder on it - you're in with a chance for reimbursement.

Online account attached to the card..?
