I hope OzB can help me out here. I'm looking for a tv to stick in the man cave, with the following considerations
Minimum 55"
As cheap as possible, whilst being suitable for watching footy.
It won't be used much - pretty much just to watch football!
My options seem to be Kogan 55" or DSE 55" for around $600. Any other ideas?
Avoid Kogan for piece of mind. You could look for a cheap Soniq. Go into a few stores (in person - you'll need to see what streaming football looks like on them), ask for their best price, write it down, and repeat until you're sold
You might be able to find a nice Sony for around that price. LED TVs are getting cheap as.
aldi has one (link above), 60 days to try it out.
I'm in SA (no Aldi) and really don't need UHD (which will hopefully make things cheaper)

It's a big if, but if DSE don't up their ebay price, that tv should be $480 tomorrow with 20% off code on ebay.

Personally I find cheap new TVs do not last.
For what you are going to use it for, I might try looking at Gumtree or eBay for old but good/branded TVs.
